Since Steven Tyler is taking 2 years off from Aerosmith and they may need to look for a new vocalist I was wondering who in the Prog world would make the best replacement.

Easily other here. I'd use one of the prog-metal vocalists that does a lot of falsetto vocals, they'd suit the range much better.

All I heard is that Steven Tyler is NOT leaving Aerosmith, he might have had some healthproblems, he might want to do a soloalbum, but desiring to do A soloalbum doesn't mean that he wants to leave the band.

As far as I know he's not leaving the band, the rumour wasn't true. Anyway, in my opinion no Steven Tyler, no Aerosmith, as simple as that.

Liv sang a song on a scene of the exteded edition of The Return of the King. Very mellow slow song, and I guess that's about all she can give, which is not much.
She would definitly not be suited for Aerosmith.

How about Steve Perry? He hasn't done much since Journey.
