saw Mastodon/Dethklok/Converge/High on Fire a couple of weeks ago
thought Mastodon was awesome, and though I don't listen to music from the show much, Brendan Small is hilarious so Dethklok was entertaining, plus seeing the legendary Gene Hoglan in action was worth staying for

I cannot for the life of me get into Converge, it's the vocals....I don't know why but they grate me.
Missed High on Fire but saw them open for Opeth a year or so ago and they were pretty cool, nothing I'd listen to intently on a regular basis but they were entertaining and fun

Has anyone here heard the post-rock band "Kepzelt Varos" before?

Their latest (and possibly first?) album is quite pretty to me. (it's also free :D )

So this is old news by now, but the samples from the new Tortoise sound pretty great and I'm not even really into them. It's astonishing how much good music has been released this year.

I found this pretty good instrumental post rock band called En Plein Air.Their music is dominated by cello and violin and their 4 song ep "L'alba Irradia L'inutile Parola" is superb.

Only one track on their Myspace page though, but it's a good one and gives a pretty good indication of what they sound like.

I really enjoyed it on my first listen. Thought the vocals worked well too.

I kinda went "WTF is this?" when the vocals came in. I thought for a second I had switched bands on my iTunes list.
I hadn't actually checked that they had guest musicians, so I wasn't expecting the vocals at all lul.
