File this under people who live in glass houses...: Prejean
Sex
Tape Triggers Settlement
Excerpt:
The video the lawyer showed Carrie is extremely
graphic and has never been released publicly.
We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie
to jettison her demand and essentially walk away with nothing.
"I've heard that the Miss California Pageant officials want their breast implants back. Sounds like a job for the Repo man." BartcopJust noticed I didn't give proper credit to the guy who made the joke. Edited by Slartibartfast - November 14 2009 at 07:21 |

Republicans - Lying or Dumb? Excerpt:The favorite mantra of the tea baggers is that the public option will add to the deficit. They say it even though the CBO has scored 4 of the 5 health care bills and said they would acutally reduce deficit. Needless to say the news media, especially CNN seems to give equal weight to the estimates of the CBO and tea party protestors wearing "Obama Sucks" t-shirts. So we can add the news media to the dumb category also. And if that wasnt enough stupidity to go around, at what might well be called a Stupidity Rally, John Boehner waved a document that he said was the constitution and told the assembled tea partiers that he stood with the constitution. Waving the document aloft he yelled into his microphone with the legislatively psychotic Virginia Foxx nodding behind him, that he "stood behind the words of the constitution" that " we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!" And the crowd went wild. The problem is those words are not in the constitution. They are in the Declaration of Independence. So like most Republicans and tea party protestors, Boehner has spent as much time reading the constitution and knowing what's in it as he did the health care bill. And his knowledge of what's in both is about the same Edited by Slartibartfast - November 11 2009 at 06:15 |

Of course, I don't understand some of these, as they are limited to American's/those with vast knowledge of American culture/politics only, but some of them even I can understand. For example republican/democratic fight ( liberal = democratic ?) Anyway, I don't get some of these Perry Bible. From total of about 250, I don't understand about 10-20. Can you explain them for me ? 1)yeah, it's funny and brutal, but what's the point ? There usually is point. 2)I get the parody of wise tibetian (whatever) monks, but what actually is the answer ? Ape/monkey isn't fitting here. By religious tradition, the answer is Adam/Eve ? Even in this way, it's not 5-word. What can it be :-) 3)OK, I saw Aladin, cat pissed on the carpet, but what the hell is going on 4) ? 5) ??? 6)American - Canadian relationship parody ? 7)but meaning? 8)Poisonous frog ? 9)ehm, what ? 10)I once tried to read "So sprache Zarathustra" and failed too, but what about this ? 11)huh ? probably some slang word. 12)Sons of the most high is from bible too ? |

^ you are looking far too deeply at some of these marty - part of the fun of the Perry Bible Fellowship is they are surreal and sometimes have no meaning.
anyway:
4) he's a surgeon on a pirate ship, all the crew have peg-legs, arms, hands, heads, he has fitted this patient with a wooden heart valve.
5) the role of rodeo clowns, (aside from entertaining the audience), is to protect the rider from the steer in an accident - here the clowns are in the audience. I don't "get it" either, but then I don't "get" rodeos and bullfights.
7) The Grim Reaper has come to claim the life of a child who's parent left them by a cliff-edge, the child turns this into a game of peek-a-boo. If you want to get deep about it, this parodies Bergman's The Seventh Seal but the child obviously cannot challenge Death to a game of chess...
8) Yes it's a poisonous toad, people have been known to lick them to get high.
9) Seeing her gingerbread man come to life, grandma makes a real man from gingerbread... old people have sex too y'know.
10) if he needs little blue pills to get arroused then he obviously doesn't "understand" her.
11) the pictures are set in the regency era of romantic novels where women were chaste, it is obviously their honeymoon night - the seal of her jar is broken so she is not a virgin.
12) the preacher is trying to be hip and down with the kids, ends up in an ambulance. simple enough moral.

I see. Thank you Dean, some of them were simply beyond my knowledge (I was aware of that rodeos happen in USA, but didn't know about rodeo clowns - so kind of helpers in ring. Here, they are taken literally. That's OK, but I simply didn't have this knowledge :) They seems much more funny than before. Others are good too. Anyway, take this as my contribution here. Perry Bible is indeed very surreal to be funny. Some are so weird that they're funny, some are breath-taking (too much laugh may suffocate you) and some are simply right-to-point funny. Instant stunners. |

Dean didn't get 10) quite right. There's a CliffsNotes on the table. It's what you get when you need to write a book report but want to cheat and not read the book.
For 3) When kitty goes on the carpet kitty often gets put outside. In this case the kitty was thrown off the magic carpet. Someone posted that one in the thread before and I actually got it. I do like these just for their sheer weirdness. In 9) is that a penis she's making for her new and improved gingerbread man? Let's see, 1) Some sort of laser eye equipped deer? Just odd. Can't explain 2) Here, have some red meat: Edited by Slartibartfast - November 14 2009 at 07:18 |

doh! - didn't know CliffNotes until I looked them up just now - I guess they are available in the UK via Amazon, but it's been 40 years since I last did English Lit.

And these explanations are making it really interesting. Well, when saying a joke for loud, then the person you're saying it to doesn't understand it, it's embarrassing, OK. But here, it's different. These are something like prog jokes. Jokes for nerds, who knows the stuff. I know something, this is why I was able to understand most of them. Thanks for the rest. And yes, it looks like, ehm, penis. Red Meat (for sale in bookshop I'm passing every day on my way to university, available for 4€) and Garfield are classics. Do anybody knows VG Cats Duelling Analogs The Noob Comic Ctrl+alt+delete and The Order of the stick was already mentioned here. |
