Newspapers are good: read it first, wipe with it later.

Butt seriously, I spend far too little time on the potty to make reading there worthwhile.

I'll join the "There's not enough time" group although I'm sure I would if I had eaten a bunch of rubber cement or something.

Yeah, but I generally don't chill out in there. So a quick crossword session or university newspaper is fine.

I read once that Hemingway wrote that a good poo was more satisfying than sex. That might have been later on in life. Or maybe I was just reading for an English final in the john. That was a long time ago.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Yes, definitely, always. Usually I've got a couple of music mags on top of the laudry machine, now I'm reading (not at this very moment but in about five minutes) a book on the making of RHCP's BSSM.

Usually yes. I read most of my mail on the toilet. If there's no mail, I pick one of the unfinished books that I have lying on the coffee table. Preferably something with short chapters, unless I have a good reason to assume that it'll be a lengthy visit, in which case I'm drawn towards something with a tumultuous palpitating flow. The Bible suits both occasions, so does Bukowski.

Occasionally. Once I read this one one a toilet wall:

Some people come here to s1t and th1nk
Some people come here to sh1t and st1nk
But I came here to scratch my b@lls
And read the writings on the w@lls

As the German poet Joachim Ringelnatz said: "The toilet is the place where you manure and harvest literature".

Absolutely!

Not always though, but certainly more often than not. Often history magazines.
