Anyone else ever heard of this guy?

Holy crap, I picked up a CD reissue of his 1968 'Grey Life' album about a month ago and I still can't stop playing it.  This damn thing has totally gotten under my skin despite being basically a self-pitying, slightly pretentious countryfied pop album with really over-the-top orchestral arrangements drowning out Stöecklein's 12-string guitar and mellow tenor voice.

Maybe that wasn't a very appealing introduction, but I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten into this guy....

P.S. not prog at all, which is why this post appears where it does Wink
