I just had the best time at an Absoluuttinen Nollapiste gig Hug Heart Perhaps even the best gig this year so far, absolutely amazing. Even the beer sucking drunkard bunch to my right didn't cause any damage, but instead offered me one Big smile

God my dad's a n00b...

He bought a MacBook, and thinks its amazing, so then he buys the Apple Airport Extreme (wireless router) and can't get it to work, so I have to go for 9 hours without internet to fix it

DAMN YOU AND YOUR LESS-THAN-SIMPLE SETUP INTERFACES APPLE

Well the first disc is with his Golden Quartet ( trumpet, piano, bass and 2 drummers). Which performs amazing Free Jazz with excellent improvisations. The Second disc is more groove oriented and performed by his Organic group(trumpet, 4 guitars, cello, electric bass, acoustic bass, and drums)

There's plenty of variety at work here. One of my fav jazz releases of the year already. Thumbs Up

My roommate is an Apple fanboy and was talking about how reliable it is, even though he had to send his macbook to service about three times. Some people just love to be defined by what they buy.

You had me at "Free Jazz".

I really need more jazz from this year. I hardly have any. I have a good amount of contemporary jazz, just not from 2009. What all do you have from this year?

Seeing Five Peace Band live made the album sound less impressive. Don't know why, but I was definitely biased by the live experience.

The support act, Katatonia, was not a very good live band. They were just alright, and nothing spectacular. But...
PT was AWESOME!!! One of the best concerts i've been to! Such a great mood!
Setlist:

The Incident (with a few really short breaks)
----------------------------------------------------
Start of Something Beautiful
Stars Die
(A bunch of songs i didn't recognize. A few from the second disc of "The Incident")
----------------------------------------------------
ENCORES:
Sound of Muzak
Trains
(Unknown song)

I was completely blown away by "The Incident"... WOW!!!

Gig rating: 8.5/10

Add Mulatu Astatke and The Heliocentrics - Inspiration Information to the list as well... Just got it. Approve

I wouldn't mind seeing Porcupine Tree live, even though I'm not as big on them anymore.

Glad you had a nice time. Thumbs Up

I'll have to add all of those except Acoustic Ladyland to my list (Well, Led Bib, Five Peace, and Flat Earth Society were already there).

Unfortunately, funds are extremely low. Unhappy

Damn straight. Wink

I've seen many 5-star jazz artists, compared to just Jethro Tull in the prog section. I'm taking one step forward in November, seeing Garbarek for the first time.

That's awesome. Thumbs Up

I have yet to see any jazz artists, so naturally I'm jealous. I've just seen Decemberists, Opeth, and Rush (twice).

Go see them! The show was incredible!
They were far heavier than i remember. In some parts they sounded like Opeth, minus the growling.
I'm blown away... Shocked

Lack of money + them not playing nearby this time = I had to skip them

Plan is to see them eventually though.

Too bad...
I really don't understand all the bad reviews about the new album. I loved it.
