Portishead is one of my favorite non-prog bands and it's great study music. |

I've only just recently become familiar with them, but they're quite good. Haven't tried as study music, though I could see that working out well. |

The only problem with my last.fm charts is that they cover nearly 4 years now and my musical taste has developed so much since then.
Like: Why the hell is Marillion still in my top 20? Bah! DROP ALREADY! Edited by MovingPictures07 - October 23 2009 at 20:10 |

You know you can delete artists from your library right?

Sweet, thanks! Post-rock would be good. Best study experiences I've had include Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, and Esbjorn Svensson Trio. |

Maybe, but I'm hardly ever in the mood for post-rock. |

Yeah, but I don't want to go that extreme. Hell, I didn't even delete VDGG from my library, and I really don't care for them. I like Marillion (especially Fish-era), but they definitely don't deserve to be that high. Same with Porcupine Tree. I also find that other artists (like Weather Report, John Coltrane, Kraftwerk, Devy, etc.) should be alot higher, but I haven't been familiar with them long enough to get them the spots they deserve quite yet. It simply takes more time than I want. ![]() ![]() |

Reading Richard III and Macbeth whilst listening to GY!BE does so much to set the mood for the plays.

GY!BE is the reason I stayed away from other post-rock for the longest time. They just bore me SO MUCH. They're VDGG-tier or worse for me. ![]() |

GY!BE is the single most awesome post rock band in the universe, IMO. I still can't figure out why so many people here don't like them. |

I'd rather listen to them than 95% of other music (as well as VDGG), but they're one of my few discoveries here that I simply haven't cared for. Only disappointment that was bigger was Phideaux. Simply don't do anything for me, and I've been persistent enough. And I find the vocal interludes from random people not interesting at all, just annoying. Fridays are always so lazy. I don't want today to end, because I have a busy weekend and next week is hell week where I have so many freaking assignments and tests that it isn't funny.
My last two weeks have been quite easy. Why do teachers always have to plan all the tests for the same week (let alone just Wednesday through Friday)? |

Dream Theater ewwww...also if you like Portishead check out the album "out of season" by Beth Gibbons (of portishead) and Rustin Man (of talk talk)... not trip hop but it's a really beautiful album.
Think I'll listen to it now in fact. Edited by Evolutionary_Sleeper - October 23 2009 at 20:29 |
