No match. Stairway still amazes me with its beauty and immaculate song construction. Child is nice but there's not all that much there beyond the gonzo vocal.
People would appreciate Stairway even more had it not suffered so much from radio overkill.

I much prefer the track "Bombay Calling" that inspired "Child in Time" by It's a Beautiful Day (and Beautiful Days' was an adaptation of the be-bop jazzer Vince Wallace's "Bombay Calling": Great riff.
Anyway, I'm voting for "Stairway to Heaven" though it's not a Zep favourite partially because of over-exposure. Give me "In the Light", "No Quarter", "Carouselambra", "Four Sticks" etc.

I choose Child in Time, though if it had been something like Achilles Last Stand or Battle of Evermore in place of Stairway Zep would have won. I've just never been a huge fan of Stairway to be honest.

As a Deep Purple fanboy, I'll vote for Child in Time, but got to admit it tends to vary since I'm not much of a appreciator of this tune specifically, but neither I am of Zep's.

Funny how time alters things , was ahuge Stairway fan , saw it live and even sang it ona a few demos back in the 70s (no contract!) but recently I really am getting off on Child in Time. Both are undisputed classics.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Is there someway to make a tie here? Stairway to Time? Child in Heaven? I voted Stairway. I'm much more of a Purple-peep than a Zep-head, but Stairway to Heaven is such a great song, so well constructed. Overall, a much better composition.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"
