I was just wondering if it would be possible to buy music locally, but I guess not. I looked in a local department stores music section today and found a little section label "jazz and new age". There wasn't any jazz in it.

I f**king cleaned out Borders when they had a 50% clearance on classical and other music, but I assume your Borders did that too and now there's only christmas songs and extracts used in movie soundtracks left.
I've gotten some good stuff at used CD stores. But no national chain is going to stock a significant classical selection, what would be the point? Classical fans are far too picky and will never be satisfied with anything a physical store could give them, so why even try?

I've never seen a record store around here, the best I have is Barnes & Nobles. They have a whole side of the store dedicated to classical, but only one shelf for jazz, and thankfully only one for country. ![]() |

I mean, forget for a moment the insanity of buying music in a bookstore, and put yourself in these people's shoes: which of the 1 million versions of Beethoven's symphonies do you carry? Are people more likely to buy Zinman, Karajan, or Klemperer? And does it even matter because how many people even buy classical music anymore?

There's a CD store in the city in Sydney which sells only classical, and not once have I ever walked past without seeing it packed. They also sell some random prog (Tangerine Dream, Mahavishnu Orchestra) and some other random stuff.

Kind of like stores trying to decide which PF tribute cds to sneak into the bin to see if they can make any money off it. I know there are eight bajillion different versions of every one of 93423 trillion different symphonies, and I honestly don't know which one to buy, 'cause I'm newb at classical music. |

I still don't have any KC outside of "In The Court Of Poseidon", which I bought for my dad as a present and haven't listened to

![]() It usually works out pretty well... I really should check out some more KC, but I haven't really liked anything that I've heard so far. |

Heh. Not so satisfied with the 80s, in comparison with the first albums. |

Yeah, that's true. His last two albums are better than the middle period starting after Visitation.

Waves, the opening track of Views, is probably my favourite Pohjola track
