I've only heard "COsmic Slop" & "Doctor Funkenstein" yet. It's like cosmic spaced out soul/funk. You can clearly hear that they were a big influence on RHCP! I first heard "Cosmic Slop" as played by RHCP ![Tongue Tongue](smileys/smiley17.gif) But they're not a high priority at the moment.

Alex. Did you see my post from yesterday regarding Danzig? I think that you might like them. Glenn Danzig's singing reminds me of the Doors, but their music and subject matter remind me more of Black Sabbath. They are kind of an alternative gothic metal band that you might want to check out.

I have to wonder...how are some of these post-rock bands even considered prog?

Oh no, don't bring the "does prog have to have the traits of '70s music" thing into here.

Nope, i didn't see it! I usually don't like music associated with the word "gothic"

Post-rock was initially so new-prog, it came out of our ears, but then the Godspeed school imposed over the Tortoise school (let's say), and an infinite number of replicas followed. What did you listen to anyway?

I know, but it's implied. ;-) | Not at all. I love a lot of modern prog that stylistically has little to do with the 1970s.
I guess I could phrase my question this way: How is playing the same riff over and over throughout the course of seven minutes and adding a little bit of keyboard here and there interesting, let alone progressive?

I'm socializing in my German classroom, with strangers, in German, twice as much as I'm socializing IRL, with family/friends, people I know and then strangers, in Romanian. Mostly importantly: I'm socializing!

It's not just playing the same thing, it's elaboration on a theme! Well some of it is playing exactly the same thing, but so is some Krautrock and they're both boring.
