Yeah - that would be a good plan! - late-night fast food in Norwich leaves a lot to be desired.

Hi all.Hope that you are well.

Back from a wonderful time in St Ives,Cornwall.

Did the Eden Project.Hrmph! It's become a giant cafe with a couple of huge golf balls embedded in the ground around it.

We found the Lost Gardens of Heligan...again.It is such a magical place.I never tire of going there.Wonderful!

The place that I would definately recommend is Godolphin House (N.T.) and gardens. It still has the original mediaeval gardens in situ.They are the oldest of their kind in England,@ 800 years old.The house was rebuilt at the end of the 13th century and was left to go to ruin from the 17th century.
Work has been taking place to restore it over the last 40 years but at a snail's pace.There really is a magical but eerie atmosphere to the place.It's stuck in time in the middle of nowhere...about 9 miles from Camborne. We climbed to the top of Godolphin Hill from where you can see both the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean.

We had some fantastic food and drink.We went to Truro,a town that I'm fairly familiar with,and was pleasantly suprised to find a decent pub (The Old Ale House) which was selling beers straight from the cask!
'Tiddlywink' (ABV 4.2) was a very good drop o' drink indeed.

In St Ives we had many a good meal but I'd heartily recommend St Andrews Bistro. Great food,wine,music and atmosphere. Very Bohemian-chic but in a good way.

A pub in St Ives called the Golden Lion is a must visit.The Saloon bar doesn't look as though it has changed for about a hundred years. Peeling anaglipta wall paper and dark red paint that is flaking away.It also serves excellent beer.

The Barbara Hepworth museum is great.Wonderful sculptures set in a garden that looks like it could be on the French Riviera.

We took in a few gigs too. Eliza Carthy was stunning as usual.We saw Charles Shaar Murray in the Art's Centre regalling us with his stories about his years in Rock 'n' Roll journalism and we saw the amazing Wizz Jones playing some awesome folk-blues.

Sounds like it was a great holiday, Lee. I've never met the man, but I've always felt that Charles Shaar Murray is a bit up himself in the way that he accuses many prog acts of being - even so, I'd imagine he has more than a few interesting tales to tell. And Eliza Carthy is reliably magnificent - you lucky git!

Better not.Some people were there before us.They must have been searching for a long while as most of them were old and had walking sticks...Hang on...
