It takes quite a lot of work to delete review, think about it, talk about it, gather evidence etc, than to write 100 words :-)
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

I happen to think the review was an attempt at a bad joke on us as a site. Delete and move on.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

She's a witch! Burn her! ... Him!

And what also burns? More witches! Dang. I wish I lived in Salem during the witch hunting periods. Sounds like it would have been fun. Wink

That said, the guy hasn't written me back and probably hasn't edited his review. I put my vote in in favor of deletion or moderator action. Even though I'd love to see Number Seven climb the charts a bit more, I'd really like to see it happen based on merit rather than fanboyism. I think it's just weird to see a review written like that out of the context of Dream Theater...

I knew it ! Phideaux is the Great Beast, 666, the wickedest man in the world - Aleister Crowley

The game's up laddie, I mean Phideaux is just an anagram of: Up Hex Aid

Chad is short for Charles which can also be Charlie (the cunning trickster !) an anagram of :Arch Lie

That's as good as a confession in my book - Prepare the kindling....

I completely agree Teo, but I think Ivan was merely pointing out that the review is basically crap.

Tks Epignosis, the fun thing is that if we take all the irrelevant comments about what he thinks of Phideaux in general and wide terms and how he thinks Prog Archives should value Phideaux (totally absurd because Prog Archives doesn't have an opinion about any artist, the reviewers do), the only relevant comment about the album  in whis whole review is:

Quote

Review by chdcrwl

5 stars Number Seven the best music of 2009, Chad Crowley

God, that review is a waste of valuable bandwith.

BTW: My god friend T, I disagree with editing reviews, I rather see a review deleted than touched (unless is absolutely necessary because a blatant gramatic mistake), because even a good edition, may change the general spirit of a review.

In this case, Mr Crowley's review is not worth the effort of edition.

Iván

that's why the best way to proceed is to ignore any previous back history about this case and just do what has to be done in every similar situation....  Delete the review. Maybe PM the reviewer saying "Dear reviewer: your review was not so atrocious until the point when it sucked due to the insults and your blatant display of immaturity and minor stupidity. Please from this day one abstain of posting any more reviews like this unless you decide to eliminate the insulting parts and try to boost the few reasonable arguments your mindless self is attempting to generate. In a few words: review, and be e-published; insult, and be told to f**k off"....

Reviews like these are annoying. However, even more annoying, no offense, is the paint the guy as a stoolie for Phideaux. Any other album or artist, and chances are we've just got an idiot on our hands. With Phideaux, it's automatically a conspiracy? Just saying. Perhaps it is a conspiracy. Those are fun.

Lets follow Rico's instructions:

1.-  Cut out the references to Riverside, motw, Beardfish and everything else, which are totally unnecessary,

Number Seven
Phideaux  Crossover Prog

Review by chdcrwl

5 stars It's about time Progarchives features one of the brightest and most promising young progressive artists of today. Althought previous featured artists were decent at best, they were not quite the leading light that Phideaux is without a doubt. Phideaux represents all of what is great about music in my mind. There are innovative melodic structures and *deceptively* simple musical structures, which make this music of Number Seven the best music of 2009, bar none. Obviously not everyone agrees as, amazingly, . Although I have only heard some of their samples, I guess that proves that there are many people who are not intelligetn enough to appreceate the music of Phideaux.  Either that or they are just jealous of how talented and inovative Phideaux is. --Chad Crowley

Done

2.- plus the one to people's intelligence and power to comprehend Phideaux's album

I'm with Rob. Cut out the references to Riverside, motw, Beardfish and everything else, which are totally unnecessary, plus the one to people's intelligence and power to comprehend Phideaux's album. Both do bring out rule #4 in some way. The first case practically opts to say "band x or its recent albums suck(s)" just to make a point that "the album in question is glorious".

I happen to think that that review, while not a good one, is acceptable.
