So I read - some say that the ToT tracks sound more polished and interesting than on the CD. Do you feel that way, too?

Hmm, another 3CD live?
I already have Live Scenes from New York.
If new songs really rock live, I just have to buy this album!
However, there's no tracks from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, (except War Inside My Head). Decisions decisions...
Why 3CD album? I'm poor student, money don't grow in trees!!
What about that DVD? Is it already published?
Should I buy that instead....?

I pre-ordered the DVD...It's coming out October 25., at least in Europe, I don't know if it's maybe already out in the US...
I listened to the CD in a shop. I really liked it. And the 20 minutes version of "Beyond this Life" is worth buying the DVD or CD alone. I saw the whole thing live and now want to capture it with buying the DVD...Mostly because of the jamsessions and improvisations in between...I guess there are more than they did on earlier tours...

Frameshift's Unweaving The Rainbow (which features James Labrie) is what Dream Theater should sound like, but don't. Train Of Thought was very disappointing. I won't be buying this.

Sorry, bro. I'm not too keen on James' voice anymore, either. I first started listening to DT in '91, so it's not like I'm a newbie. The new album just sounds like something they're really not.

I'll wait till the DVD comes out, I don't buy live CD's, mostly just the DVD's, if I really like it, I'll get the CD.

I liked train of thought, but i cannot stand the singing. He oversings every single song, and most of thier slow songs are plagued with horrendous singing.

The singing was ok I thought, I just can't stand the mainstream guitar
riffs, though once they get to the real DT parts, that's what I love.

Also, Train of Thought is a LIVE album, more than a studio album. All the songs sound
better live. JP has this amazing outro improv. solo at the end of
In The Name of God that's friggin amazing!!
If you don't want it for the above...the DVD (to me) is worth it just
for the version of Hollow Years. The JP solo in the middle of
that song.. (the new electric version of it) is just  . Played with so much emotion and it's just amazing.

yeah i got that. and i've ordered the dvd! haven't listen to it in too much depth but it sounds good. hollow years was f**king immense! they are unstoppable. I cant wait for the dvd now!

i like how people here have really enjoyed dream
theater up to ToT. i'm, in a way, the opposite. the only
dream theater i have ever heard is ToT.

Guys, you know that in the US/Canada there is a recall going on with the DVDs right?
The DVDs out at the moment, have a 5.1 glitch for the whole second set
of the Concert (which is half of the first disc). The first half
of the first disc, and the second disc are fine, but the 5.1 track for
the second set screws up, because the channels switch, ie. guitar goes
to the sub, bass to the centre etc.
This is why the DVD's are being recalled if you already have bought
them, but there hasn't been a date set for the fixed ones to be
released in the US/Canada yet (I know that for Europe it is November
29th). So, if they haven't been shipped yet, then I would cancel
the order, and wait for the fixed ones to come out. Until then,
I'd buy the CDs, not the DVDs.

Kind of sums up my feelings about DT
when the DVD arrives, all I can say is
BIN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
