I have expanded my Alamaailman Vasarat collection by 1 by downloading Käärmelautakunta, and I am really enjoying this one too. I see that they are the offspring of Höyry-Kone, who I have seen mentioned before, but I have never heard. I am thinking that I need to hear this band. Any thoughts? |
I think you've been answered already, pricey HK indeed, but they are excellent. And clappies for Kaarmelautakunta. My favourite remains Maahan.

That is 40 songs not 40 albums. They gave me 60 free downloads this month on top of the 90 that I purchased. I should be able to get another 4 or 5 albums out of that though.

This Afenginn album is pretty good. It kind of makes me want to do that Russian dance where the arm's are crossed and they kick out their legs. I'm sure it has a proper name, but it eludes me at the moment.

Dear Abby Scott and Rico,
My wife wants two weeks or so to herself once the baby is born at the end of November. Our lease is also up then, so we'll be moving to a larger home. In other words, a lot going on.
My wife is having our new child at a birthing center, so instead of being imprisoned in a hospital, she'll get released about 4-6 hours after the baby's birth barring any complications. She will be recovering at home, breastfeeding, and shortly thereafter we'll be moving into a new home (with inexpensive movers we found).
Well, to keep people from showing up to see the baby at whatever time, my wife wrote a terse letter to send to everyone that basically says "Please wait until the Christmas holiday" (you know, about two weeks later when school gets out for the holidays).
Well, when my mother got the letter, she was upset and took it personally (her impression is that she and my wife don't get along, but my wife has zero problems with my mom- not just her words, but my own observation).
My wife just has very clear expectations about what she wants, but my mom has read it as a personal matter, that we just don't want my family around.
I know we just come from a different culture- my entire family lives in one city, and as soon as a baby was born, people were visiting that same week. My wife does not want visitors for a couple of weeks, but my mom thinks that as a grandmother, she should be treated differently (she lives 8 hours away).
I try to accommodate everyone, but I choose to backup my wife when it comes to her decision (even though I know it upsets my mother).
What do I do?

Scott, do partnerships, S Corporations, and/or C Corporations report capital gains/losses in the computations for their taxable income?

Nah, it's fine. Tough situation, especially with people getting upset, but I think you made the right decision. Bad timing, little comfort, a hectic period with the moving and accomodating - there is absolutely no reason why the tradition of letting people stop by to see the baby should be kept, let one be on the itinerary. Your mother should perhaps also read or be told of the situation exactly the way you said to us, because it makes a lot of sense. If she has, but practices stubborness, well... Anyway, close relatives are close, but if they just wanna stop by and visit their granddaughter, without offering any help - 100% no.

Yes. C Corporation report capital gains in the computation for their taxable income. Capital losses are not included but can be carried forward to offset capital gains in future years.
Partnerships and S Corporations pass-through all of their income to the individual partners and shareholders who then report the income on their tax returns. Any capital gains/losses are reported separately from the Partnership and S Corporation's ordinary income.

Personal thought. Bad move. Let grandma see her grand baby as soon as possible. Other friends/relatives/acquaintences I can understand. But not grandmas.
