I'd probably go for Sopranos, then The Wire followed by Deadwood.

Only know Rome, and it's awsome. Too bad they cancelled it.

I have to go with Deadwood. The first two episodes of the 2nd season are the best thing that has ever aired on television. Every single episode has at least a few really memorable lines.
However, I'm really only going with Deadwood because I've only seen the first two seasons of the Wire, which is already fantastic and stands a good chance of passing up Deadwood for #1.
And why does everyone always forget about Carnivale? That show was amazing and ended way before it should have. I also think they should have given John From Cincinatti another chance, I really think that show could have gone places.

Except a season of Six Feet Under, none of the mentioned. But I watched Carnivale. Oh, and Angels In America. Only a miniseries, but it's absolutely superb.

My bad! To be fair I went from the series listed by HBO on their own site and I now realise that it is not a complete list. Oh, and Deadwood was damn fine. Good call.

The Wire (filmed in my hometown) and Rome.
I know it's not an HBO show and I am getting into it a bit late but I think Dexter is superb.Excellent cast and writing and exceptional and complex characters and plotlines. We just got the first 3 seasons on dvd and I watched 2 seasons in like three days.Total addiction,I just couldn't stop watching.

I just watched the 3rd Series of Dexter a couple of weeks ago. Sheer class and I can't wait to see the next series. BTW I do love The Wire.
