(Ladies) and Gentlemen ?

Please move this if needed, but I decided to post it here. I'm talking about top2009, details shown in adress bar:

I know that this album is not so great as (for example Scenes 2) others and that there is many better ones in 2009 chart and I'm also awared about thing called weighted rating. And that album with 4.1 average score with 80 reviews will be before album with 4.4 average with just 15 reviews (I think), but on this screenshot, Lacrimosa album with 1.33 rating is before quite a high rated DT. Not talking about they have 3.70 rating, so they should by far on higher place.

But they are not, so either system is broken, or I'm getting something wrong. I prefer second choice, because it's more easy to fix (I just have to understand it better), so question is:

What's going on and what I'm missing? :-)

EDIT: Well we moved. I though about error section, but I wasn't sure if this is error, or just misunderstanding.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

M@X, could you take a look into this?

@ MartyMcFly89:

There is no such album as 'Scenes 2'. There is only 'Scenes'. Perhaps you were meaning to say 'Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory'?

As for the rating . . . I haven't listen to this new album yet, so I can't really say one way or the other, but if the last album was any indication as to where the band is headed, I'm not surprised at its position.

The album and the rating aren't the point.  It's the position in the chart.

I'm still not surprised. Isn't it based on the amount of ratings as well? If one album has a higher rating, yet has more ratings, that should determine where it lands, no?

Maybe I'm still missing the point; I have been a bit frazzled lately with moving and all. Embarrassed

I think it's kind of a question as to how an album with a 3.50+ rating is way below those with one star and one rating.

Well, if it is based solely on the rating versus the listing, I don't know what to tell you. Is something fishy going on behind the scenes somewhere? Is that even possible?

By the way Micah, we're getting to be kind of friends here...and I'll just be honest and tell you I don't like the new avatar.  It looks like the shadow is crawling out of his nose.  LOL

Yep, Metropolis Part 2, I've tried to shorten it, so it's not error, but intention. And you did understand, so it works, even not in a way I planned it. I should have say just Metropolis.

I see this album more like return. It's not masterpiece, but I (personally) was disappointed by their previous, since Octavarium. And even Octa, there were worse songs (again, my opinion, you said yours, I've said mine).

Epignosis: Indeed, I meant its position. I understand, how (in top2009 for example), 4.4 album is before 4.6, just because 4,4 has more ratings. But position of "Black Clouds..." should be far higher. Even it's possible that it won't end in top100 (so be it, it will be voice of people), but will have its proper place.

I think it's some kind of error, pictures speaks for themselves, confirmed by more people than just me, so.

What the heck is with it ? I like mysteries, but not in computer world, where every problem should have it's cause, reason why it's like that. I have to say that I've encountered it in more than just this case.

As I said many times before (but on various places), no problem. Big site brings a lot of problems. The more the site is, the bigger problems are. That's normal.

I'm just curious, what's the reason for it.

Actually there are multiple albums such as Octahedron, Mantis, Still the Waters which all have a significant number of reviews that are below 1 and 2 star rated albums with less than five ratings. I had been wondering what happened to Mantis on the chart...
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I fixed it and DT 2009 album is now ranked 90 wich is more adequate and logical according the the ratings.

I had a bug in my SQL query that calculated the avg_ratings of all the album in the site instead of the ones in the actual query.

Let me know
