Such is the "flavour of the month" nature of pop, my choice is obvious, though for now i am still un-embarassed to extol the virtues of a certain cheeky Embarrassed little female singer, believe it or not the album in question is really very good,    or at least i will continue to think so until the new Sophie Ellis Bextor album comes out.. The new full-length from IMOGEN HEAP - Ellipse.

What a great piece of thoughtful, contemporary avant-pop music.

I'll have to check this out.. loved "I Megaphone", but didn't care for the Frou Frou project much...  Thanks!

The last album of an artist who claimed being hugely influenced by Peter Gabriel but who sadly died in a helicopter accident in 1986.

Nothing wrong with this!  And at least it IS POP (Unlike Arcade Fire me thinks) so good pick!!

Your largesse is gracious sire, but it's a heinous crime punishable by a future spent going round the cabaret circuit. (The Musicians Hell) I dug this critter out today and gave it a spin and it's still a damn nifty pop record notwithstanding the creators couture atrocities. Who can fail to love a song called Lemon Fire Brigade for pity's sake ?

I've always wondered why they cloned the cover of Sheer Heart AttackTongue

I don't know what we're calling pop, but to go with it in a strict sense I'll say Katy Perry's One Of The Boys.

That is weird, you're right. I never clocked this before !? It's so similar it must be a direct quote ? Although apart from some stage outfits they would now be rather sheepish about, there ain't much common ground musically ?

My then girlfriend's sister bought it and i straight away thought of SHA - only seeing the cover in the posts here made me think of it again- must be nearly 30 years ago now I'd guess.

Must 'fess up I've never actually heard it but at least in the UK their collective candle burned extremely brightly for a very short period of time.

I would deriantly agree with that considering that the title song, The Stranger was one of my favorite songs before I started to get into prog. We didn't start the fire is good, too.

Mmm... I tried to see what I had in my library considered "pop" but according to them, Gentle Giant's Three Friends, Magna Carta and QVL are all pop Shocked

Anyway, top of my head, I like Nellie McKay's Get Away From Me and Cindy Lauper's She's So Unusual.
