I think so, yes.

There's also an Italian band called Tom Moto whose description is almost the same as Jean Louis.  So I need their album too.

That's all you need in Google.

Or even just Tranchemusic.

But I agree.  Their name is extraordinarily bad in terms of searching.  They weren't even on RYM until I added them the other week.

It just means you have to be in the know to know about them, gotta hang out with the cool kids.

If you need to search for them on Google, you've already failed.

But there is little to no information about them anywhere.

Luke even says the CD says 2008 on the back... which makes me a little concerned...

Well, then I guess it can't be album of the year.  LOL

Wasn't it by chance that Luke discovered them on Wayside?

If he wouldn't have had, James's best album of the year would be Animal Collective. LOL

They're on a Wayside sampler that comes with every order.  So one of us would have heard at some point.

I'm such a n00b.

I've never played a ReR or Wayside Sampler. Embarrassed  I do have most of the Wayside ones though but I didn't get one with my last order... odd.

Of course it can.

Nobody's ever heard of them.  Wayside didn't start selling their album 'til this year.  Nothing came up on last.fm until recently.  Nothing on RYM until I added them.  Hardly anything on Google searches.

I still say it's a 2009 album.

No, no, and no.

If it was released in 2008, it is a 2008 album.  Everything else is irrelevant.  Doesn't matter when anybody first "discovered" them.

I sent the band an e-mail (in what is probably atrocious French) asking what the release date is.

I didn't realize that The Yardbirds are still an active band.  Apparently, the non-famous members who didn't play guitar and move on to become famous are still active with new members.  They have even released some new albums in recent years.  One of which had all kinds of guest musicians, including Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Jeff Beck.  I thought that they had ceased to exist at the time that Clapton/Page/Beck had all left the band.

I agree with Pat, if the band released the album in 2008, then the album of that band is a 2008 album.

We can't distort reality.

Pendragon's Pure wasn't officially released until 2009, although it was already voted in the 2008 best album poll because many people had already bought a copy directly from the band.  AllMusic Guide lists its release date as February 27, 2009.

The fact that people bought a copy seems to indicate a limited release in 2008, in my mind, whatever the "official" release date is.  If it were only promo copies the band gave away to a select few, I'd go with the 2009 date.

Well, it's not the case of a limited release/pre-order with Jean Louis.

That being said, bands who pre-release something, and schedule the official official release of the official official album later on (even in a different year), is starting to sound problematic.

Steven Wilson did the same with Insurgentes.

The Clash's Combat Rock FTW.   Punk rock never appealed to me, and I know that this was their "sell out" album, but I just love this album.

I've been yelled at by crazy homeless people on the street before....sort of the same feel to that exchange, really.

I'm thinking his rambling only proved my point about words with no clear meaning.

You'll hate me, but I understood his reply to you.

Another message, posted later to Phideaux, skates much more into the unknown.

I think that the new Transatlantic album is going to make my pants explode.  Did I use that phrase right in a sentence?

77 minute long song? I get bored of an ALBUM that is that long, never mind a song. This is going to be the most self indulgent piece of ... work... that I've ever heard.
