Gee, Pablo, you're really living in the past!  Tongue

It is a deliciously ambiguous novel.

No problem. Thanks for reminding me to (perhaps) give another spin to the devilishly superb Zeit. It's been a while. I used to play it as nachtmusik on tape when I was very young.

Yeah, and I totally loved it!!

1984 > Farhenheit 451> Brave New World > The Giver

Dystopian novels rule! Though rule depressingly...OuchWink

Wow Pablo.  I think I'd agree with you on those counts, but to me, the latter three novels kinda stink compared to some I've read.  Allow me to HIGHLY recommend:

1. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
2. Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood (great Canadian author)
3. The Stand by Stephen King
4. It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis

All fantastic dystopian novels by masters.

I'll try to find them, been reading all of them in spanish, so I'm not sure if they're easy to find. But really wouldn't mind reading them in english, that is if they're not very complicated english, something that "bothered" me while reading H.P Lovecraft, not that he's bad or anything.

Thanks for the recomendations, and will advise whenever I get my hand on any of those.

BTW, you read The Giver? Shocked

King and Lewis are pretty straightforward American English.  Atwood is Canadian, so has some slightly different words and spellings for certain things (no big deal if you've successfully read Orwell or Huxley).

As for The Giver...haha, I've taught English dude.  LOL  That was one of the most popular books in my class.

But like I said, I read Orwell and Huxley in spanishWink

And yeah, about The Giver, before posting I sort-of-imagined that you had read it for school reasons. I read it last year for school.... Good, but lots of cliches from previous dystopian novels(Brave New World/Farhenheit 451), and kinda gets a bit boring in the middle. Still a fine work.

I still have my 25$ Gift Card from Amazon I won here, and seen the prices for some books, and that was the one I checked first and might buy it first also. Then checked out Anthem, and it's 3$!! Though not sure how good or dystopic-alike is it, any of you read it?

Gah, I don't plan to read any Ayn Rand.

Although I've not read the book, I would also recommend Children of Men by P.D. James.  The film was excellent.  I plan to one day read the book.

But there are exceptions.

Oh, and Pablo---read some Ayn Rand; don't listen to James.

By far my favorite author ever.
