Topic: Pull Me Under Posted: August 23 2009 at 05:33 |
I never liked this particular song didn't like the lyrics ,didn't like the melody, I thought the chorus sounded weak and the song itself seemed to go nowhere. I must be in the minority because Dream Theater themselves consider this their only hit song ?they even made a double compilation Dream Theaters greatest hit and 21 other pretty cool songs(I know ) ... well enough of my thoughts what do you think of Pull me under ?

Yes (good song)
Cant hear anything wrong with the lyrics, vocal melody is good, memorable chorus, powerful album opener.

The song is easy to get in, it's catchy with melody and the lyrics are not so bad compare to other DT songs.

I'm not quite a fan of this song ever since my first listen, probably because of the uninspired melodies (especially the chorus) and the ending part that keeps plodding until the abrupt (yet original) end. But it's not entirely a trash track, since I found the production to be outstanding (for my high-end sound system) and well-balanced. I don't mind about the lyrics that I sing along to, but the drum groove is what keeps my interest.
If I were to vote, it's a hard decision but I am certain that it's not my favourite so I vote it down. How Dream Theater gained their popularity through this is pretty absurd but if it works, it works.

Yeah, it's a good song. Far from DT's best, but it's a decent song.

Forget the song, I can't stand the sheer cheese of the clean guitar tone and the synth tones.

I love Another Day! Sure it isn't prog, but it's a beautiful song. IMHO at least

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent ballad, but doesn't fit the album at all IMO, the sax solo, it just doesn't fit.
|
Yeah I guess. It's not progressive or metal so then I guess it isn't DT?... maybe?..? ??

|
Again, your're not getting what I mean. I do enjoy pop, as well as dance, and what-not, but Another Day just doesn't fit the album, just like More Fool Me doesn't fit Selling England by the Pound, both are decent pop songs that were misplaced.

I think it's one of the better ones from an album I don't really like and don't think is the pinnacle of progressive metal.
