About Zappa, I'm ashamed to say that I've never heard Freak Out by him...

I liked it a lot. All my first listens of the day (Peter Hammill's Incoherence with David Jaxon + Stuart Gordon, John G. Perry's Sunset Wading and Freak Out!) were stunning.

Incoherence is indeed an excellent album.  I love Stuart Gordon's violin playing.  That's why I also love Veracious so damned much. Big smile

I think wondering why test scores have increased dramatically is a valid concern. I don't think the students can be changing all that much, but the material could be.

1sts actually make people think you're a pretentious wazzock and that often means they may not employ you.

I don't know Alex, that is the problem. I am adrift in a sea of disaster. Also, I need to give you a <3 for listening to me. My internet friends from previous forums got sick of that and ignore it now. :( ;-) DO YOU HAVE THE TIME. TO LISTEN TO ME WHINE?

It's easy to get that way. I wasn't even really sure about my profession for a while; but even though it isn't my life passion, it's enjoyable at least and really just a way for me to make money.

You make money by posting on here? Shocked

Anyhow, I'm a little bit pissed off tonight.

I had a good night right up 'til the end...

My ex was out and it was all good.  We're just friends and I care for her still.  Well, she was sat outside the club after with some guy and I'm just minding my own business waiting for my mate to return, so I could give him a lift.  I look round and they're full-on kissing.

Now that isn't the issue so much.  Although it didn't really help.

The thing is:

1. I gather from another source, that the guy is in fact married
2. she always said she hated kissing (and when she did do it, it was usually in private)
3. she was being really nice to me and it seemed to me she still liked me (however, I don't plan or want to get back with her)
4. common courtesy would suggest that you do not do that kind of thing in front of an ex, unless you're actually dating that person or they have asked if it's cool beforehand

Grrrr!

Plus it didn't help that almost all my other mates were also upset for various reasons too.

So now I am anti-alcohol and anti-marriage.

Seriously... if you're married, you simply don't do that.  If you do decide to do that, do it privately where nobody sees you doing it.  This is how rumours spread (not that I plan to spread them).

Plus get a girl and guy sufficiently pissed and they'll do anything together, whatever their circumstance (unless it involves me and then nothing will happen).

Luke, did you notice that hard-to-please Henry liked the Jean Louis samples?

Success!

Oh and what made you cringe?

I'm not anti-alcohol.

I just hate seeing people act like complete t**ts whilst off their faces.  It really pisses me off.

Then drink more than them.LOL

Actually most of my friends stopped drinking as much when they reached 21.
The whole alcohol thing gets played out.
I guess having a later drinking age works.

Like f**k it does.

My ex is 39.  The dude she was with is in his 30s.

Most of my mates who do stupid things when off their faces are over 21.

@1, Mwahahahaha! And I don't reckon that's the case; there's a helluvalotofprestige in the Oxbridge reputation, and it's actually known vaguely outside the UK as well, which helps.

It's probably valid, but nonetheless quite annoying. I reckon it's mostly just that the exam boards are getting more and more predictable and consequently in any school where people listen to their teachers they get taught how to pass exams better rather than the exams getting 'easier' per se.
