That is better than plane depression.  Plains are pretty flat.  If you jump your not going to fall very far.  Planes on the other hand...

Probably a bad time to listen to Portishead (not that I won't).

Hello again. Spontaneous Christian camp thing (I'd recorded the dates down wrong so had no forewarning); was good. Also, now officially an Oxford man (got the 3 As). Good times.

Which College?

Oh and congratulations.  I have a friend at Cambridge who I've not seen in ages... must find out how he is.

St. 'Miles away from anywhere' Hugh's

Also, for the sake of contention

Freak Out way > Hot Rats.

^congratulations Rob, glad to hear that!

About Zappa, I'm ashamed to say that I've never heard Freak Out by him...

I liked it a lot. All my first listens of the day (Peter Hammill's Incoherence with David Jaxon + Stuart Gordon, John G. Perry's Sunset Wading and Freak Out!) were stunning.

That's certainly a day to die for. I mean, it must be a great day with the approval's from university and very rewarding first listens and all.

I'm sorry if I already asked you, but what other/s Zappa album/s do you own?

Think I gave Freak Out! an average, yet better than most of the same kind rating. Hot Rats is from a slightly different world.

True. Good day, good times, and the camp thing was great fun (Battleball, the sport of kings, especially).

/in a mild note of annoyance with the Times, I think the people whining about A-level results being too good are the same people who would complain if there was a drop in achievements... it basically seems to boil down to 'I think too many people are succeeding'/

Just those two, I'm afraid. Got Hot Rats, wasn't impressed. Decided lately to try again from the beginning, so I amazoned Freak Out! and liked that a helluva lot more.

Anyway, must be off. Have fun.

DAMN YOU ROB YOU ARE STEALING MY DREAM! Well at least you're not going to Magdalen, then I'd have to kill you. ;-) I looked on the map, and St Hugh's isn't that far away! Five minute bus ride, tops. ;-) By the way, my professor when I was in England told me that nobody cares that you went to Oxford unless you get a First, do you think that's true?

I think wondering why test scores have increased dramatically is a valid concern. I don't think the students can be changing all that much, but the material could be.

Haha, don't want to hear about my emo fits? ;-)

I decided that I'm too emo and lame to go to that school, so ah well. But now my dad is saying that he doesn't want to pay for my college anymore because due to these failure delays I'll be in it at the same time as my sister! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
