"Sendhal" is a misspelling of "Stendhal". I’ve never heard about this syndrome before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stendhal_syndrome |

Sounds like something a defense lawyer would come up with. Does anyone remember the twinkie defense? |

California: Hundreds lining up for free healthcare checks at Inglewood Forum 8/13

Speaking of healthcare...OLD PEOPLE!
Also found this section interesting: A July 31 Gallup Poll found that just 20 percent of Americans aged 65 and older believe health care reform would improve their own situation, noticeably lower than the 27 percent of 18- to 49-year olds and 26 percent of 50-to-64-year-olds who say the same. Your generation, Tony, can now fully rest assure, they have seen history made with their own eyes. (If they watched it, of course. ) Probably gonna see a re-run of it too, if Bolt improves. But I'm now fully wondering if my generation will end up seeing someone else go below 9.50. I myself doubt it. Bolt can probably go faster (but not by much, he didn't relax this time on the last meters, so it was a full throttle record), but another guy like him. I feel it improbable. I thought Beijing was memorable, with both 100 and 200m records smashed. It was, indeed, remarkable to see it live. But this -- this -- almost 9 and a half seconds. This is epic. |

Maybe, but he ran for good this time, instead of slowing 200 meters ahead, smilling at the camera, pickin' his nose, or waving back at Asafa. The difference: 0.11 seconds. It's still 0.18 seconds until 9.4. Edited by Ricochet - August 16 2009 at 16:57 |

Nice to know scientists are not wasting their time or funding:
Zombie attack would threaten civilisation "If zombies actually existed, an attack by them would lead to the collapse of civilisation unless dealt with quickly and aggressively. That is the conclusion of a mathematical exercise carried out by researchers in Canada. They say only frequent counter-attacks with increasing force would eradicate the fictional creatures." [edit] "Professor Ferguson, from Imperial College London thinks that some of the assumptions made in the paper might be unduly alarmist." I love scientists. I do hope that this happens so that I can come back as a fast zombie. That's one thing about all these movies with the fast zombies...you never see a geriatric zombie. Why is that? There is no way a 80 y/o person can out run something that fast. Even on a rascal electric scooter. |

Go Barney, go!
Rep. Frank lashes out at protester for Nazi remarkhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090819/ap_on_re_us/us_health_care_frankDARTMOUTH, Mass. – Rep. Barney Frank lashed out at protester who held a poster depicting President Barack Obama with a Hitler-style mustache during a heated town hall meeting on federal health care reform. "On what planet do you spend most of your time?" Frank asked the woman, who had stepped up to the podium at a southeastern Massachusetts senior center to ask why Frank supports what she called a Nazi policy. "Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it," Frank replied. He continued by saying her ability to deface an image of the president and express her views "is a tribute to the First Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated." Frank, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee, sought to assure more than 500 people attending the rowdy meeting that the average taxpayer wouldn't be hurt by plans currently under consideration in Congress. Some of those attending the meeting organized by the Democratic Town Committee of Dartmouth shouted and booed as Frank and others addressed the crowd. At one point, Frank asked the crowd: "Which one of you wants to yell next?"... Edited by Slartibartfast - August 19 2009 at 18:13 |

Armpit ban on rollercoasters
"Rollercoaster riders at a Surrey theme park are being banned from putting their arms in the air - after complaints about body odour" "staff have been issued with deodorant sprays for customers" No potential for customer offense there, then... |
