From this trio, I will pick Page since he's the only one that's on my top ten list of guitarists.

Favorite / Influencial

1a - Jeff Beck

1b - Gary Moore

2 - Jimi Hendrix

3 - Rory Gallagher

4 - Eric Clapton

5 - Peter Green

6 - Ulrich Roth

7 - Michael Schenker

8 - Tommy Bolin

9 - Jimmy Page

ClapClapfor Beck and Schencker - god I still love that solo on Rock Bottom, even after zillions of listens
It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.

I could go on and on about Jeff Beck and I certainly agree with you on Michael Schenker. The eleven minute live version of Rock Bottom on Strangers In The Night is incredible. I swear that guy sounds like he's got six fingers on his left hand.

I want to clarify my list of top ten guitarists. I know that names like Tommy Bolin, Rory Gallagher and Ulrich Roth may not be quite as well known as the others on the list. But influencial is the key word here. From the mid 60s through the mid 70s these ten guitarists were the main influences on my playing style. I would listen to any one of these guys and say, "I will never be as good as they are, but I can be better than I am now". So, their influence was of a motivational nature.

I know exactly what you mean. I barely play at all myself, but sure can appreciate those that do. The studio version on Phenomenon is brilliant and was surely always written for impro anyway. Dunno if you've checked out the UFO BBC In Concert/Session CD but it's vintage early MS. Starts with a crunching Oh My and carries on a rockin'Tongue

Hearing Doctor Doctor on FM radio was what turned me on to UFO. When I bought the LP and played it the first time I discovered Rock Bottom. The only early Schenker I have is Lonesome Crow but I have a few MSG CDs and a later one (2004) called Schenker / Pattison Summit. They do a few covers like Shapes Of Things, Hey Joe and A Whiter Shade Of Pale.
