Cardinal Nation must be happy right now. Starting tomorrow at 9amCST tickets go on sale for the Astros series and Outfield Loge box seats will be $4. The Cards went 5 ot 6 in their last homestand so they knocked $30 off the ticket prices for the Astros series. It would have been asking too much for it to be against the Cubs.

The Tigers acquired a much needed left-handed bat from the Baltimore Orioles when they acquired Aubrey Huff today. He has only been involved in Tigers trade rumors for the last 3 or 4 years now. I'm not really sure how he is going to help however. We have Guillen at DH as a left handed bat and Cabrera at 1st base. I know that he used to be a 3rd baseman, but Inge is a pretty solid defender there. Not playing him yesterday easily cost the Tigers the game yesterday given that his replacement had 3 costly errors. I guess that he can play in the outfield too. It'll be interesting to see if he is able to help the cause.

Smoltz was dropped by the BoSox today. It would be nice if Atlanta picks him up so that he can retire as a Brave.

Maybe the Tigers should sign Smoltz and then trade him to Atlanta for Doyle Alexander. Oh wait; they already did that 22 years ago.

Anyone see Kuroda get hit in the head by that line drive? Scary. The guy is very lucky there is nothing seriously wrong.

At least he got off better than David Wright. He got plunked and now they're saying he could be out for the rest of the year.

Hahaha. No, I suspect that Doyle is probably living in a nice retirement home reliving his 9 and 0 September 1987 when he was a Tigers pitcher with anyone who will listen. Great trade for that year, but a horrible trade in the grand scheme of things.

I can understand why people don't like A-Rod (I dont like him much myself)
however...he must get hit more than ANYone.
Picking a day when CC is pitching though maybe not a wise idea...

Did you see what that idiot Manuel said about the concussion? He expects Wright to recover more quickly than Church did from his concussions last year because Wright is tougher than Church. Last time I checked, post-concussion syndrome was not about toughness it was about staying off the field while your brain heals so that you don't get brain damage or even get killed.

Hey, Doyle pitched one hell of a 1987 for the Tigers. Most importantly, that means he's the ace of my staff in RBI Baseball.

I don't think he really gets hit all that much. In the past 4 season I'm pretty sure Chase Utley has been leading the way. Looking over his career he's never led the AL in HBP.
A-Rod in the past four season put up the numbers: 7, 14, 21, and 8 for 50 total.
Utley did: 17, 27, 25, and 14 for 83 total.
Career numbers A-Rod has 148 over 16 season whereas Utley has 100 over 7 seasons.
I was actually gonna run the numbers to show the top 10, but I got lazy before I even started and just decided to talk about Utley.

He's probably up there in intentional HPB, which now that I think about it, is probably what you're referring to.
And yeah only saw the highlights and his line, but he had a good outing. Wish I could watch him pitch more, really admire his stuff.

Yes, that is true. Unfortunately John Smoltz pitched something like 20 one hell of a years for the Atlanta Braves after that.  It worked out well for the Tigers in 1987 for 1 year as the Tigers even made the playoffs for the last time until 2006. The Braves on the other hand one their division almost every year after that. Obviously, Maddox and Glavine had a lot to do with that too, but John Smoltz was an awesome 3rd starter and one of the best closers in the business when he made the switch.

Manuel is desperate right now. He's still trying to make the wild card. And it was/is stupid. Just ask Steve Young or Troy Aikman about concussions.
