This is a thread I made up out of pure boredom. This is where you just randomly suggest completely un-prog related artists to a specific genre and give a good reason why. You should write a substantial amount, and should pretty much write a mini-bio of this Non-progressive artist on PA. I'll start:
BILLY JOEL- Eclectic Prog Billy Joel is a progressive death metal artist originating from the USA. His heaviest music can be found in his radio hit "She's A Woman". What makes him more than just a death metal artist is that he doesn't use death metal vocals, fast riffs, or anything associated with DM. Which automatically makes him an eclectic musician, combining pop with rock and non death metal. WHY THIS ARTIST MUST BE LISTED ON PA: Approved by the eclectic team, and has some of the most complex music in the world Your turn |

I love being the bubble burster here.
Billy Joel actually did play with a tragically-awful heavy metal band before he was famous.

OK!
METALLICA- Prog Related Though they never made a progressive metal album, (maybe three proggish albums) and even though they had no real contribution to progressive metal, they had a progressive mindset. While no one is quite sure what that means, they had one. After all it is what your intent and feel is that is more important than your music. Even though their original intent was to be a thrash metal band, and they released a string of crappy, generic they are totally progressive. Why this band should be on PA: They had 3 heavy metal albums with some proggish tendencies which is enough to counter act the other 6 they made..... What do you think of that!? |

Well thank you!
And I have another suggestion SLAYER progressive metal This band is the most progressive band ever. However, they play so fast you can not tell. When you slow down a Slayer song 10X you will realize they actually play 17 riffs a second. Why they should be on PA: Because they are the most f*cking metal band ever! What's funny is John Wesley lives in my hometown and I used to see him at a Mexican Restaurant on Friday nights when he was in town.. Seen his trio band a couple of times.

ABBA - Avant-Guard
This band should be included for the avant-guard use of a crazy backwards B in their band name. Another notable reason why ABBA is included on PA, is due to the fact that their music was used as the soundtrack to a movie Pierce Brosnan was in. |

Devo, nothing more progressive than being regressive.
Bee Gees, for that new disco prog subgenre in the works. Brittney Spears for, uhm no, what the hell was I thinking about. Edited by Slartibartfast - August 14 2009 at 22:35 |

I suggest the Black Eye Peas because they shout out random Jewish phrases in their new song, that is obviously progressive. Not to mention the complexity of the song. To half of the lyrics, "Tonight's gonna be a good night".

Michael Phelps- Proto-Prog
Michael Phelps is an American swimmer who is also a 60's psychedelic rock band. Well, not quite, but he does pot, so he must be a 60's psych band, right? |

The Jonas Brothers
for Tech/Extreme Metal With a whirlwind mash of powerfully distorted and angular riffs, polyrhythmic drumming and uber-brutal vocals, the Jonas Brothers make the perfect comparison to Meshuggah, Opeth and Cynic. Having performed since 1986, the band has released several outstanding albums, including: We're Br00tal Metal Gods - 1986 Live at Disney Studios -1991 We Sold Our Souls For 14 Year Olds Groupies - 1995 Light Cigarettes and Root Beer - 1999 and their seminal work: 2 Chords That Made a Billion - 2003 Remember, nothing says Extreme like the JB's. |
