How can I utilize my popularity on the forums?

I am a prog musician and a reviewer on a meta-data website (something like ProgFreaks). In my reviews, I often compare my OWN music to the albums that I'm reviewing. Sometimes I directly express my hatred towards the album  and also explain why my OWN music is much better than that album.

Fortunately, one of these reviews gained fame on the website (people obviously like narcissists). In this review, I criticized a very famous and highly-rated album and claimed that my own albums were much better. This review got a large number of diggs and positive responses.

Is this a good thing for my publicity? I feel not. Firstly, most of the readers are just trying to get some free stuff to read, and never intended to download or stream any music (I offer both for free). Secondly, even if they do check out my music, they may not find my music that good after all (as is pointed out in some replies). Thirdly, it's just unfair to promote your own music in reviews. And lastly, I didn't put a lot of thought into the review, I don't think it's much more than a hype, and I don't believe hypes, even when it's surrounding me.
