Amazing stylized artwork by Giger... the movie is dated now, although the chest-popper scene is a monument in film history....  7/10    - dated yes, but actually the most effective and scary one Aliens- an improved budget and more action then you can throw a grenade at, only hampered by the annoying whiney guy in it...And it shows the Queen alien!  How cool is that?  due to that one factor, this one ranks above Alien for me....  8/10  - great action film, the expanded version is interesting   Alien 3- terrible cgi aliens in this one.  I wish they would have stuck with the costumed/puppet aliens.  An allright story, hardly compelling, without much help from the effects dept.  I am afraid cgi was not up to snuff yet.... it looks horribly spliced over the backgrounds... terrible.  Worth a watch though.  5.5/10  - didn't like it the first time, didn't mind it the second, kinda liked it the third, now I think it's marvelous, better than Aliens in many ways..  director's cut is a completely different film     Taken- Liam Neeson- great action/suspense/thriller in the vein of the Bourne series.  Enjoyable and tense killing scenarios where you can't help but fill a sense of justice and inevitably side with the hero, who kills off every greaseball who deals in human trafficking.... Everytime the hero would do something awesome, or start sneaking around killing, I would exclaim:  "Oh, It's ON!"  best quote from the movie:  "This is no time for Dick measuring!"  7.5/10 (can't help but cheer throughout this one)  - I still have to see this one

actually I'm glad they left that out, what I wished they'd kept were those surreal scenes of the guy in the alien suit, his movements are really weird and scary

Analyze This - I fell asleep

500 Days of Summer - what can I say? I loved this movie, everyone in America-whether you wanted to or not-have all seen our fair share of "Romantic Comedies", this one (while can be considered a, RC) was far more subtle and relatable than most RC's I've ever seen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt pretty much carried the movie and I think he did damn fine job, the humor wasn't insulting to my intelligence either, they didn't seem to have the need to fall back on potty humor or stupid 'more-clever-than-thou' crap like you'd see on nowadays sitcoms, this sucker was almost like a guide-book to my current situation, some dumb reviewer was complaining that they tried to make an Annie Hall for the Obama-generation (okay, I inserted my own term there) but really I relate to this far more than Annie Hall, even though I love AH, it just doesn't speak to me the way this one did....for one I'm not a baby boomer, I don't live in NY nor am I jewish, plus the music and pop culture references used in 500 Days I felt much more connected to as well, whatever....I want to take this movie home with me a cuddle with it, 8.5/10

The Bourne Ultimatum    big fan of the first two and this third one is on a par with those, wrapping things up nicely at the end and filled with typically spectacular fight scenes and chases.  Great character and film series.

can't wait for Bourne Into a Dysfunctional Family

I watched Reality Bites a few days ago not knowing I was in for what is essentially a chick flick.  All the main characters in the movie annoyed the heck out of me (except for perhaps Stiller), especially Ethan Hawke's character.  I have a hard time getting along with people like that, and I know a few of them.

Anyway, I've been watching insect-related movies tonight. First David Cronenberg's The Fly (which was even more impressive than I remembered), now Dario Argento's Phenomena. Gordon Douglas's Them! will probably be next.

^ To each his own, I guess. I have to admit though that it would be a better movie if it didn't turn into a generic romantic comedy towards the end.

^ Actually I haven't seen Starship Troopers. Not all of it, anyway.
