Hey, if Ray Lewis gets to help out with a double homocide and not miss a day of work I don't see why Vick can't come back (aside from the fact he's a very poor quarterback) as he's actually paid his debt to society

wow, someone got beaten up as a kid and never got over it.
by the way, I'd argue most family guy lovers are pricks and most tool fans are tools
![]() you know, its been somewhat funny to see what animals can do to people. here, on this very poll, some of progarchives most well noted peace and love liberals are advocating mauling by dogs as a criminal punishment.

Both have vehemently denied it,particularly Pats owner Robert Kraft.
Now the rumor is that the Packers are interested.

![]() When he was conditionally reinstated more than 2 dozen teams stated outright that they wouldn't touch him,so that leaves 8 to deal with all the rumors.

All it will take is for one team to give him a chance, then they all will hop on board.
![]() I sincerely hope no one picks him up. The NFL needs to get some integrity back.

Like I said previously,if no team in the NFL signs him he'll probably play in the fledgling UFL.

If he was an accountant, would you let him go back and get a job in accounting after doing his time? Why does the job of pro athlete have to treated differently from any other walk of life?
He screwed up and did a lot of bad things. We will see if he truly regrets these actions and stays on the straight and narrow. But to deny him his livelihood on top of doing prison time seems punitive to me. And if he does get a team to take a chance on him, he will be further vilified by a portion of that team's fans and every visiting stadium he goes to as well as getting intense media scrutiny along the way. Another NFL job is not going to be a panacea for him anytime soon. And I bet if you were one of his creditors, you would be hoping like hell that he got back in the league, no matter what his past sins were. |

Michael Vick is a criminal and should not be playing again. If he had a "normal" job, he would not be rehired. It makes me so mad.

What about Donte Stallworth?
The guy KILLED a man while driving drunk.I don't see too many people complaining about that.He served 24 DAYS in jail.

I'm kind of surprised it took so many posts for this point to be made. Do I think he should have been handed a harsher punishment by the court? Yes. Unfortunately he got off pretty easily. It would be awful PR for any team that did take him so I doubt anyone will. Honestly I wouldn't be opposed to it if the Browns took him (we need all the help we can get) plus there is the irony that we have a section of the crowd labeled the "Dog Pound." As for celebrities getting preferential treatment, there is no denying that. It should stop and if you don't believe that then you are a loon. |

He is not the first NFL player to get away with that type of murder. |

It just pisses me off that so many people are ready to put Vick's head on a stick for dogfighting charges, which he went to jail for for 2 years, but Stallworth killed a guy driving drunk and no one says squat. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail,1,000 hours of community service,2 years of house arrest and 8 years of probation. He is suspended indefinitely from the NFL though.
It just seems like human life has been devalued, and that makes me sad.I saw enough of that in my time in the Army(especially in Somalia),but it never fails to shock, sadden and anger me.

I am about ready to ditch following the NFL. A small boycott on my part would be meaningless, but I'll be able to sleep at night easier knowing I am not supporting a system that, as you say, devalues human life. Such a shame. |

Dany Heatley killed a teammate by being a complete idiot, with hardly any help from alcohol, and yet he was right back in lineup as soon as his own injuries were healed. In fact, he got right back to making NHL all star teams without anyone blinking an eye. I'm truely sickened everytime I see him take the ice but it seems like I'm in the minority somehow.

Speaking of athletes in trouble:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/hockey/nhl/08/10/kane.robbery.charge/index.html I'm not calling him guilty already, but this story is just too bizarre to ignore. |
