And it's nothing personal Dean...but anyone in a position of power is a fascist. We ALL know that!
Besides, this thread was NEVER intelligent.

From what I remember, it was occasional talk of intelligent things while the other 95% was sillyness, talking about eating bull penis, and filling ourselves with pride on our "intelligence"

The issue of Bull Penis has never been an issue, those wishing to imbibe are free to do so without prejudice, I'm not even sure why you bother to bring it up since it is neither here nor there and ipso facto is an irrelevance known only to yourselves.
 
I am of the firm belief that it is possible to be silly and intelligent, that humour can rise above mere cultural stereotyping and achieve a degree of gravitas that is both humorous and mentally challenging. Yet again, I find myself on a team of one in this matter, as I am with the tangential thread that is not tangential.

I've been reading up about the fall of the Roman Empire.

I find it ironic that the various Germanic tribes, but especially the Franks, quickly tried to emulate the empire they just sacked, including conversion to Christianity.

I guess I'd do the same. I mean yeah, you just brought down the Roman Empire and modern civilization.
Now what?

This brings back to mind James Burke's TV documentary, The Day The Universe Changed.  Oh cool, just looked it up and you can get it on DVD as of this year. Big smile
