Reluctantly, I'm going to give it another try. Satellite seems to bore me to tears these days.

I've never heard a single second of Satellite before; I'm trying tons of new things because I acquired a bunch of albums from 2009 and that's all I've been listening to for the past 3 or 4 days.

This is good. Not sure what I'll rate it yet, but I can see what you mean. It's not one of the best things I've heard this year, but decent and nothing more. At least that's my first impression so far.

I was really into them a couple of  years ago, but their past couple of albums declined a bit. Then, you go back and listen to the first two and it hits you that it all sounds the same. Very one dimensional band. Just my opinion, of course.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not sure I'll get any of their other records, but this is pleasant at least.

Have you heard the new Hourglass? Now I had never heard them either until yesterday, but that was really good.

I really like Satellite, (all 4 albums) even if there is a bit of sameness about them.  The new Hourglass CD is excellent.  For me, non-prog-Chicago Related adult easy listening music:

You may really enjoy their new album, but I'm not sure; that's just a gut instinct.

The Hourglass album started off horribly with really harsh vocals, and I thought there was no way that I was going to listen to a double album of this stuff, but the harsh vocals went away and a really good album emerged from the ashes.

Sampling them on their site right now. Not bad. Very DT-esque.

I wouldn't have minded some harsh vocals (I listened to Meshuggah for 3 days straight once), but I think the album turned out to be better without them.

It wasn't the most revolutionary metal album I've heard, but it was much more solid than I expected. And they can certainly play their instruments really well. The compositions are crafted pretty well too. Clap

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but never once during the album did I think to myself "rip off" or anything, so it was unique enough.
