This Hourglass album is MUCH better than I anticipated so far. It's about 140 minutes so I was expecting major drag... but I'm already about 30 minutes finished and it hasn't felt near that long.

What do you mean!? You don't love the 9 minute songs that consist of 9 notes.

Daniel O'Sullivan of Guapo often plays live with Sunn O)))
I do need to check them out though.

I've only heard a few songs and not an actual album. I should.

I've always wondered if there was one band to listen to while high and it'll be totally scarring (in a bad way). Because most of the time, no matter what the band is... it's great when on acid.

Heard a few albums, never clicked with me...just ugh. and I really really wanted to like them. Not much into drone in the first place though. However, I do like Earth and Boris. (I only have 1 Earth album and 3 Boris ones though)

I'm positive they will be sh*t on ANY drug. NOTHING on earth can help that band...

Well, I love stuff like Zeit by Tangerine Dream (which I've heard people describe as refrigerator humming), so I may enjoy it. Which albums did you try?

Yeah, I still plan on checking them out eventually--particularly Unfolded Like Staircase. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
What do you think you'd review it, Rob? (How many stars?)

I've literally heard two tracks so far (which is about a quarter of the album... I'd have heard more but it's four in the morning and I need to grab four hours sleep now and I wanted to just get an impression so I'd remember to Spotify them tomorrow). On the basis of those, slightly removed from proper context, it'd be a solid 4 (I mean, it's obviously a bit too early to tell; the length of the playout and the occasional unimaginative fill might count against it, but I haven't the context or the listens to tell.

Zeit is snoozeworthy.
I hated it.
I don't mind free jazz. I don't mind ambient. I don't mind minimalism.
I don't like Zeit or Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven.

I love Zeit, but everything by Godspeed is a snoozefest to me.
