Maynard James Keenan is at least the most intense singer when performing that I know, especially in Tool's earlier years. He seems to go to a different place.
Yeah, it's called drugs... honestly...

If anyone says Geddy Lee or James LaBrie I am going to BUST SH*T UP!
Favorite singers:
Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth, Bloodbath, etc.) Garm/Kristoffer Rygg (Ulver, Arcturus, etc.) Jonas Renske (Katatonia, etc.)
I go for James La... no, wait...
Fredy Mercury... by miles to anyone you have said above... easily... I don't get why some could said Steven Wilson is the best prog singer... he's just average... and in spanish... Bunbury from Heroes del Silencio is quite a good singer, but never put him near to the best singer out there... besides from Mercury, a not been progressive, I go for Elvis Presley... versatile, deep, great...

Your seriuosly talking about Nino Bravo and (this is really terrorific and scary) of Bumbury?!!?
( If you are not spanish maybe dont understand how distasteful is that). Dont you like Raphael and Camilo too then? Hilarious!
Is like saying that Gary Glitter is the best rock act!!!
Anyway talking seriuosly i see some choices i really dig:
The Buckleys (Tim and Jeff).
Sandy Denny- "Sailor Song" "The battle of Evermore"- !Incredible voice! ! Incredible ( that im agree with Moshkito)!
And i will add a personal choice i think nobody post about:
Paul Rodgers in Free- Great singer, maybe not the best technical, not the widest range, anyway he´s singing is one of the most specials, most hartrending and really effective i heard.
I would say Plant if he knew how to sing in the concerts ( back down this amanerated hand, dude!!).
Ian Gillian is an obvious choice but anyway i love him so....

I'm spanish and my vote goes to..NONE. I don't like specially singers in my language.
I consider there are a lot of great instrumental stuff in Spain and Latin America, but most of them lose a lot of points when include voices. Of course there are some good albums in Spanish, but not enough to be recommended as good singers.

Well, I speak English, so I have a lot to choose from, US and Britain alone gives me so many choices.
I've always very much loved Grace Slick's voice from Jefferson Airplane. As well as Robert Wyatt's voice (I don't know why, I just love it) as well as Richard Sinclair from Caravan. Then theres always how much I love Freddie King's voice, not prog at all.
I would have to say it comes down to either Grace Slick or Freddie King.
