I have always liked David Gilmour's vocals, probably my favourite vocalist through sheer weight of history. Other vocalists I enjoy are:

- Mikael Akerfeldt (Clean, the growls are not my thing)
- Peter Gabriel
- Steven Wilson
- Devin Townsend has a decent softer vocal range
- Jon Anderson

Some other vocalists are better technically, and some (like Labrie, Geddy Lee, Roger Waters) really have to be listened when you are in the right mood, or they sound daft.

Czesław Niemen of course!

Honorable mention to Marek Stryszowski from Laboratorium who uses his voice as an instrument rather than sings.

Roger Waters has never been a good singer.

It's really funny me saying that, considering ''The Wall'' is my favorite of theirs, but honestly, Waters' whiny voice worked well for their later material, but if he would simply sing, I would make sure my ears were nicely padded.

I love Jorn Lande's voice.  He could wail at a cow at turn it into ground beef, but he could also lull someone to sleep with his warm tone. Favorite though? I don't know, too many to pick.
Take a few minutes and listen to this!

Peter Gabriel is of course my favorite.

David Coverdale is my boyhood fave. So of course, Jorne Lande (who is an update) is a fave.

Mike Patton and Devin Townsend do so much with naturally ordinary voices that they must take the vote for most talented.

Matthew Parmenter does everything Hammill does, on pitch.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

OK, I've not found much good music sung in Spanish. This is certanly not prog at all, but I think "Bunbury" from "Heroes del Silencio" sings rather cool. Also, I've lately discovered the band "Triana", thanks to Prog Archives, and I really liked the way "Jesus de la Rosa" sings.

Can't think of a Finnish prog singer I like, but here's a few of my non-prog favourites:

Ismo Alanko
Herra Ylppö
A. W. Yrjänä
Jarkko Martikainen

Klas Ryberg For Cult of Luna has one of the most linear, yet emotional and powerful growls in music in my opinion.

Others would be...
Garm (ulver)
Jonsi (Sigur ros)
John Haugm (Agalloch)
Jon Anderson (Yes)
Aaron Turner (Isis)

Neal definitely has an underrated voice. When he really sings, he REALLY SINGS!

On top of that he's the greatest songwriter ever, so that helpsTongue

Good to know I'm not the only one with this opinion Big smile  I agree 100%.

Well, I speak English, so I have a lot to choose from, US and Britain alone gives me so many choices.

I've always very much loved Grace Slick's voice from Jefferson Airplane.  As well as Robert Wyatt's voice (I don't know why, I just love it) as well as Richard Sinclair from Caravan.  Then theres always how much I love Freddie King's voice, not prog at all.

I would have to say it comes down to either Grace Slick or Freddie King.

About Steven Wilson, I think that he is a very good singer but not as a "lead" singer per say. His harmonized vocals, however, are just INCREDIBLE!
