Soundgarden for Bad Motor Finger.

Candlebox deserves special mention.

Soundgarden, by far. Easily the most thematically ambitious and musically proficient of the big-name bands associated with that scene.

The collaberations were some of the best moments in Grunge imo, The Alicemudgarden track "Right Turn" on AIC's Sap e.p was a corker.

Also no ones mentioned (as far as I can see) the Temple of The Dog album which pretty much gave birth to the "Ten" era pearl jam line up, the second track on there "Right Turn" is one of the best things to come out of that scene yet again imo.

Mad Season w/ Layne Stayley and the guy from Screaming Trees (apologies I forget the name) is a little harder to get into but is ultimately pretty rewarding.

got to admit that I never understood the hype surrounding Nirvana, it probably sounds ridiculous but i'm not sure i even class them as a grunge band their more accessible punk in my eyes. Ermm

And to the tune of a billion dollars, I supplied to the D.O.E.
Some tasty little nuggets of alien technology.

Alice In Chains.  Followed by Soundgarden.  Those are the only grunge bands that I own more than 1 album (I have Ten, and am quite familiar with both Pearl Jam and Nirvana).

That shows how much you actually listen to grunge.
Ever heard of "Ten" or "Dirt"?

(I think we have done this before but...)

Alice in Chains it is (the most ''metallish'') followed by Soundgarden (albums like Badmotorfinger)

Nirvana come last in my books (less creative)

It's Pearl Jam for me.
Nirvana is so far down the list it's about to fall off the bottom of the page.

i voted for Soundgarden as they ar my favouritt, i like also Pearl Jam and Nirvana not familiar enough with Alice In Chainds

Is Foo Fighters Grunge?, i like them very much, what i think is fun is that Foo Fighters dont sound complicated but if you listen closly you can notice the cool Cordprogressions and odd timesignatures.

For quite some time, I felt that alternative and grunge were interchangeable, but the alternative label was used for just about anything new to come out after Nevermind and Ten.  Now I believe that Grunge is just a small subset of alternative, which includes most of the bands that I have already been mentioned.  I agree that the Foo Fighters were grunge related.

My vote goes to Nirvana.  Nevermind is perfection in the same way that Talking Heads' Fear of Music is perfection (not that I'm comparing the two musically).  There's something about the atmosphere/production, not too mention hooks, that transcends what's actually in the grooves.

Alice and Soundgarden ain't bad either.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

Alice in Chains is the best. Laynes (R.I.P.) vocals are just so perfect, because it sounds so bad ass. And the guy who play the instruments to their job fine. Dirt is perfect.

I agree.  Also, the Jar of Flies EP is one of the best things ever recorded.

Alice in Chains might be my favorite Alice in Chains album. I mean...
"Sludge Factory", "Heaven Beside you", "Frogs" & "Over Now" are fantastic songs!
I just love the slow, psychedelic mood of "Frogs", and the spoken nonsense in the ending Approve
