Let's put it this way - I thought Mike-Tor's review of BC&SL was generous.

The album might have been one of the biggest disappointments I've experienced with music.

It honestly was akin to someone in a bad marriage, knowing it's finally over, and divorce is inevitable.

Agreed 100%
My 3 friends who are also BIG DT fans felt the same.

I like it Embarrassed, but mostly because I'm a big DT fan... I don't love it though and I'm highly disappointed by it. There's a few people in this thread though that I know think it's the best thing ever and I am confused by that fact.

Alex (MP07) and David (birdwithteeth) really like it.

new Volta is not an immediate home-run, but I think it's a grower.

f**k, the new MV is so amazing... Teflon and Halo blow my mind every time. The only thing I wish was different is the minute of silence that it starts off with

They got me into prog, so I'd almost feel bad about disliking it - but it does have some moments that I do enjoy. I still think they could bounce back but...

I hope so....
And I know what you mean DT was one of the main bands that got me into prog, (other 2 being Symphony X and Opeth)

I heard the first two tracks from Bacon CLettuce and Soiled Loincloths and they were pretty awful.

Petrucci's guitar playing in the opener sounded like Warren Haynes at times... not too bad.

Then there was Peart's growls... what the hell?

The final insult was the sh*t poor keyboard part in the second track.

Oh and the fact it was just Power Metal that somehow reminded me of Linkin' Park in a weird way (meaning it sounded nothing like them but I had a Linkin' Park song in my head after I listened to those first two tracks).

I may attempt to listen to the rest but I don't want my head to asplode.
