The first two tracks at myspace left a very good impression after all, thanks Scott for the tip  Good night.  I really need to hear Choirs of the Eye, since that is the album people refer to as Kayo Dot's masterpiece.  I have still only heard Dowsing Anemone and I thought that that album was horrible.  Bad experience like that tend to make it hard for me to be interested in listening to the band's other works. Not sure if you'd like Choirs or not, Scott. It does have less metal and walls-of-sound than DAwCT, but it's still really jazzy and avant-garde. It's not accessible music by any means, but when it finally clicked for me, it was one of the most amazing things I'd ever heard.

Oh and I have to listen to Octahedron still.

I am still building the anticipation.  I haven't listened to it yet.  I absolutely loved their debut album, and Free was almost as good.  My expectations are high on this one, but I haven't listened to it yet.  I didn't listen to much music this weekend, although I have made it through the first 2 CDs of the new DT album.

The grandmaster of this latter phenomenon was Mickey The Wizard.

It also happens to be associated with like and dislike for music, whether it is subjective or objective or not.

So enjoying World Record over all other VdGG albums is slightly n00by (because it is a great album but to like it over their obviously better previous albums is not good).

Listening to a whole band/artist's discography (even the crap) in chronological order as well as having a list of bands/artists to "try out" is also rather n00by.

I am sure there are more examples too.

Failing doesn't make anyone a n00b. Or at least, they way "fail" is being shouted around here, it's so utterly subjective, so that qualifying someone as n00b is meaningless.

My comment was not stupid, I exposed my thoughts on the matter fully. You just laughed at it because it's your (plural) way of disagreeing. And since you plainly disagreed with my point (with a majority), that's simply your (plural again) problem.

If n00biness is associated with liking or disliking music, and that's n00bishness, then we are all n00bs. My dislike was just as subjective as your like.

If liking a special musical album above the standardized master-work (like Elixirs or World Record) is n00bness (I don't think it is), then I fully accept the title, because I can die happy with the music I like, and ultimately don't care at all of other people.

Listening to a one artist's/band's full discography (incidentally, in chronological order) is one man's simple pleasure and option. No one actually made any complaint about you (singular this time) criticizing bands and music after listening to just one piece or even less, although it's obviously (more a fact than a subjective issue) that it's something silly to do.

Please, do bring more examples, cause these ones aren't satisfying one bit. Since virtually each time I say "I like this" and another says "I don't like this" - or viceversa - and that makes both persons n00bs, the examples expressed this way are plainly baloney.
