ClapThumbs up and clappies for The T for the bio, but I found a couple of mistakes that could use some correcting:

When looking for a lead guitarist for the first time they found a guy called Lloyd Grant who did the lead guitar work for Hit the Lights, but was not hired full time because of his lack of rhythm guitar abilities. Next up was Dave Mustaine. I suggest mentioning the Mustaine hiring somewhat like this: "After unsuccessfully trying out lead guitarist Lloyd Grant on the first recording of Hit the Lights they found a more stable line-up when they hired Dave Mustaine to replace him."

Cliff Burton died in 1986, not 1987.

Jason Newsted didn't write a single thing on Load, except the bass lines on otherwise completed songs. On the contrary he was always known as the most metal-headed member of the band who wasn't actually too happy with the direction the band had taken then. In a recent interview James Hetfield said that Load (especially the promo pic department) was most of all directed by Lars and Kirk.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Grant did play on the first Hit the Lights, but the song was later re-recorded with Mustaine for the second edition of the Metal Massacre compilation. So...

"After recording the first version of Hit the Lights, which was met with favorable comments from the underground metal community, with Ulrich on drums, Hetfield on vocals, rhythm guitar and bass and the soon-to-be-sacked Lloyd Grant on lead guitar, the band formed their first somewhat stable line-up when they hired Dave Mustaine to replace Grant and Ron McGovney to handle the bass duties, but his lackluster skills were soon...."

How's that? Smile

Good otherwise but I think the second version was recorded also with McGovney on bass. And I don't think that's a very important release to mention, I probably would instead try to sneak in the legendary No Life 'til Leather demo tape that was the last of the three demos recorded by the Hetfield/Ulrich/Mustaine/McGovney line-up.

It's not really very important at all, but now that I started complaining... Tongue

"To record a song for an upcoming metal compilation, METALLICA looked for a lead guitarist. After unsuccessfully trying out Lloyd Grant on the first recording of "Hit the Lights", which was met with favorable comments from the underground metal community, they found a more stable line-up when they hired Dave Mustaine to replace him. With Hetfield's high school friend Ron McGovney joining them on bass, they re-recorded "Hit the Lights" for the second edition of the Metal Massacre compilation and several other demos that helped them make their name known in the world wide metal underground.

McGovney wouldn't last long as his lackluster skills were soon...."
