Topic: Solder Theory's Debut Release Coming Soon! Posted: June 27 2009 at 00:13 |
Some of you may know this, but most of you don't. I have a band. Well, at least a 'project'. A group of musicians are working on a project of mine I've had in my head for years now, and it's finally becoming a reality thanks to the wonderful guys who have chosen to help me out. I wouldn't be making this progress without their contributions. :) So far the confirmed collaborators on this project are: (EDIT: A lot of changes have happened over the past year, so expect an updated line-up listing in this post soon.
- Oct. 8, 2010) THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR WORKING ON THIS WITH ME! Additionally, I am always open for more people contributing to this, as I find collaboration between many different individual musicians a very rich and rewarding listening experience (Hell, look at the Ayreon stuff that's out there!) The musical style of the album currently being written is falling somewhere between Porcupine Tree, Jethro Tull and Yes, but we'll have to see how it all evolves over time. Just felt like announcing this project "officially" so that I could rasie a bit of awareness for when the album gets finished. As of this point, I'm shooting for a late 2010 release date, but most of the guys working on the project are very busy, so it really isn't set in stone yet. The album is called "White Lies", and is based on a concept myself and Aaron my Bassist came up with surrounding the artwork. It will feature a few long tracks, but nothing too 'epic'. I don't want to jump in to super prog band land on my first musical outing, but hopefully the results will please many members of this particular community. -------------------------------- Here is the cover artwork that I just released publicly today: It is a collaboration between myself, and our own Abel Adames (darksideof)! I have to say, he has captured what was in my head beautifully. This truly is a near-perfect visual recreation! Abel drew the beautiful sketch of the eye, while I added the spider image and the color. :) THANK YOU, ABEL! Thanks to everyone involved in this project, and I hope we will continue to press onward in making this project one of the most fun times I have ever had. Expect "White Lies" in late 2010, unless plans change and the release has to be pushed back, of course.

That's pretty awesome. At first, though, I thought you kept misspelling the project name. And I was worried for a moment when I saw it in the artwork that way, too.
But you do mean to have it be "solder," like the iron?

Yes, haha. I've always felt like Prog mixes many genres that wouldn't normally work together; almost like they've literally been 'soldered'.

Based on what little I've heard, I am absolutely envious that I was not involved.
And the album artwork gives me the creeps!

Cool. Again, thanks so much for working on this with me, couldn't have gotten the great visual results without your help. I'm truly grateful.
