Oldfield's best individual song would probably be "Magellan" or "Voyager" for a short one, and "Hergest Ridge" for a long one.

Those are good choices.

I'd agree with "Magellan", and probably add a few others.

As for long one... "Ommadawn" or "Amarok" for me first before any others. But "Hergest Ridge" and "Tubular Bells" would follow closely.

Not close enough, I already checked. It's also during the school year.

A Monday night. Dead

Hopefully PT will add that DC date to their tour schedule... .I missed them in Rome a couple of years ago, and would really like to see them, though they are not particular favourites of mine.

Have you seen the latest snippet of wisdom on the new TMV album? According to a new member, it's poppish and lameDisapprove...

Poppish? Ha. That's a laugh.

It's grown on me just a bit, but I'm still disappointed with that album (relatively, since TMV has been so consistently amazing for me).

It's still a solid album though.

The album I'm listening to, on the other hand... Holy crap!

This is my first album listen of their stuff ever, but it's amazing. I'll have to see if I can get more. Big smile

Octavarium is a fairly good Dream Theater album. I think my intellectual dislike (oh look! an 8! And guess what, we've got a cycle in here! This means everything goes in cycles... sure, guys...) for the artsy underlyings has been just about subverted by the fairly good quality of the songs.

It's not bad, just un-proggy and pretty much un-original.

The title track is still one of the best things they ever did

I just got back from my practical camera exam, which was administered by the same guy who interviewed me to get into the program. His analysis - I won't have to work in fast food anymore, very capable.

HELL YEAH!!

I agree with the fact that it's fairly good.

I like the intellectual nuggets in it, but that's just me.

I've heard of them before, maybe I shall pick something up of theirs today. I will check out some samples first though.

Clap

Good luck with that

And yeah, the title track annoys me in that there are half a million things I swear I recognise but can't 100% place. And Rudess just doesn't do Wright well... Shine On You Crazy Diamond was one of the best keyboard performances ever, and cannibalising it with Bijou's guitar part annoys me a lot. It gets better after that.
