when it comes to education, cheap mostly does equal bad, since a long-term teacher on staff will build up their curriculum and their own method of teaching it consistently - teachers write lessons as well as teach them. a TA is a stopgap

also, hiring a cheaper, less prepared outside worker makes the existing staff worry that the college will start to favour temps over the seasoned, competent people they have, and it's not unfounded - i ended up at a demonstration last weekend about the coming staff cuts all over Yorkshire and everyone was worried.

that was boring. i'd like to end this post by saying that Joe Morello is the best drummer eber

Joe Morello was fantastic with Dave Brubeck Quartet.  Nice pick. Wink

His solo on Take 5 is especially good too.

There was an excellent interview with Joe Morello on BBC 4s jazz series recently. He spoke about his 'contratemp' with saxophonist,Paul Desmond.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Maahan stands as my favourite AV album - but I have heard the new one yet. It's just like Elixirs - Kaarmelakunta is arguably better (though I don't see it that way), but Maahan is the album I utterly love.

I don't care what you say; that's a good album. Ouch

Though, admittedly it's probably one of my least favorite Rush albums (if there is such a thing).

It was always my pre-2112 favourite.

The live version of that on ATWAS blows the studio one away.

Geddy puts a reverb on his vocal for that line - "IS SAVED AGAIN-N-N-N!"  Awesome.  Clap

Never said it was bad, just hadn't, on listen 1 on Spotify, made much of an impression.
