Anyone familiar with the story of how Neil Peart lost his daughter, Selena, and then his wife Jackie in a few short months in the late 90s will be heartened by this item from his June News, Weather & Sports Blog:

Quote At the same time, under that same marine layer, my wife Carrie was seven months pregnant. [Pause for sharp intake of breath and shiver of apprehension.] Our baby was growing and kicking, protected and insulated in its own oceanic fluid, its own marine layer. The anxious (not to say terrified) father kind of wished the baby could stay there, safe from harm, and not have to embark upon a life of menace and potential tragedy. He had lost before, and probably couldn’t stand to lose again. People kept saying it was going to be all right, and he tried to keep telling himself that. Even in the June Gloom.

Neil remarried in 2000 to Carrie Nuttall who is a photographer.

That's really good news for NeilClap! I read the account of his daughter and wife's death in the book Ghost Rider, which impressed me very deeply. The man really went through hell...

Yes, indeed. It explains the long hiatus between test for echo and vapor trails.

Wonderful news, I can't imagine what that man had to go through, it's good to hear that he'll have another chance to be a Dad.

One one hand, great news.  I'm very happy for him.

On the other, who wants a teenager when you're in your seventies.

Best wishes and good luck, Neil.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I wish Neil nothing but happiness after all that he's suffered in his life, as Raff said a hell that I can't even begin to contemplate.

Losing my child and wife would be such an unimaginable hell, so I really did, and continue to, feel for him. Now I am full of happiness for him. It's great news, and I'm sure that all will be well.
