I had been using Cool Edit Pro (Or "Adobe Audition" for the later releases), but since I got my MacBook Pro, I've had to search elsewhere for compatible programs. So far the built-in "Garage Band" works extremely well for freeware, but I'm probably going to shoot for something like pro tools or logic soon enough. Those programs just seem to be the best, as most professionals use them.

It really is a matter of usage really.

I have a 12 in/12out Firewire Mixer into a Laptop for home demo justice...and I could have used any DAW, but I chose Cubase...no idea why, but I learnt how to use it.
It is so user friendly and powerful.

It really is a matter of personal use and what you really want to do with it.

Every DAW has it's merits...No one can say that another DAW is no good because I have heard some incredible material recorded on some very unlikely DAW's...

Try something...if it doesn't suit your needs, move on.
