nice to see a LOT of people fooled at Nearfest as well....  that place crawls with members from the other prog forum.  Got stopped every 10 minutes Saturday.. wearing my HoL concert T.  People wanting to share how incredible the show was.. .the album was... the group is... hmmm.  The fools are not just here it seems.

speaking of that... Raff joked earlier.. been 3 days since I've listened to a Decemberists album.   A record since this January when I really got into them.

^ That makes you the king of fools, right? Tongue

I've been joking on this too, but just checked their last release (just to know what were all talking about Embarrassed), and was a surprisingly grateful experience for me. I must say that I was expecting something not that impressive, taking in account all of this bashing going on here.

On the while, my first thought was "who we are to say if a band is prog or not?" and even more, "how can we judge quality and musical approaches just based on stupid label?" It's just a band doing great music, surely they don't really mind if some people categorizes them as prog, bachata or dark metal, that's just a little game we play on sites like this.
This is not my beautiful house...

I guess that does..... I don't think anyone here would dare call our beloved Bob... KING of Fools.  He is the puppetmaster...  we... HIS fools.. just dance to his song and dance hahah.  Since I have the big yapper and no shame ...he made me the King of Fools I guess hahha.

actually Alex... that discussion came up with some old farts we were sitting next to while waiting for a set to start.  There really is too much emphasis on tags and labels.  Prog or not... they are simply a great group.  The true fools are those that write them off for not conforming to some rigid idea of what should be PROG.

I did a search on the existing Decemberists topics to choose where I'd post this interesting link I found, and I remembered how hilariously idiotic this thread was, so here goes LOL The Top 25 albums and songs of the decade according to Colin Meloy (click next to see the song list):

I know of about four or so.

If you click "Next," you can see Meloy's picks for individual songs.

I've heard of 8 of the bands, but I haven't heard any of the albums. And The Shins are really annoying.

Lol, Lars Ulrich's best album was The Arctic Monkeys.

Thumbs Up for including The Woods by Sleater-Kinney, but Thumbs Down for misspelling it.

A bit surprisingly Kirk Hammett had a lot of great stuff on his list, the albums top four for example being Radiohead, TMV, Sigur Rós and Muse.

If you guys don't have Bon Iver's full length then you're missing out BIG TIME. Fleetfoxes are great too.

Fleet Foxes is indeed great and my girlfriend's been very interested in Bon Iver lately, which make me interested. She's going to get it soon I presume, I'll hear it then.
