I don't know if it will be a break, or just dropping out of it gradually. I really feel I have nothing to contribute to it any more, and people see me as a nuisance (no, not you). Collaborating with another site will make me feel useful, and keep me away from too much interaction with rude, inconsiderate people. You know, it's not wise to stick around when you're not wanted.

I can't wait to hear more from Robert. Hug

I think my band's next album will be released about... February 2010 or so; I'm pretty stoked about that. You'll have to hear that one, Pablo, it'll be different than the previous two in a way that makes it more accessible and less abstract. Still may not be your favorite style (it's far from Heavy Prog or Symph, probably), but it's more worth your time. Smile

I don't recommend that you hear the 2nd one. Haha.

Embarrassed Yeah, I still need to hear that second of yours, and as you said, it's not pretty much my kind of music.

Don't worry about it, haha. Scott had the same exact sentiments, and I even told him to pass it up, because the 2nd one is extremely in the realms of experimental and avant music (especially with the tribal backwards voices). I still love it, but I can understand that it's inaccessible to most people because it's so abstract.

Whether you listen to it eventually or not doesn't matter to me.
Smile

But will be greeted to hear your 3rd if you recomend me to do so! Always open for new stuff, btw, HP is not really my fave PROG sub-genre, if not a part of Heavy Rock for me of course, which HR is indeed one of my fave genres. Also, as you should know, a big fan of ZappaWink

Oh, okay, that's true. Zappa is pretty much my biggest creative idol; he was certainly a musical genius. Clap

So far our 3rd one sounds pretty eclectic... it's impossible for me to describe really because I try to do something totally unique with each album, but it carries some electronic/spacey elements from the first two but also allows a bunch of other things to take the center stage as well.

It's also song-oriented (they stand on their own and complete an album), whereas the first two were entirely album-oriented. I feel like my songwriting has improved quite a bit too, and some things are easier because I know what I'm doing more.

BTW, good luck with the album!

Thanks! It's been going really well lately and I feel like we're creating something really cool (well, I did before, but it's so exciting to do something new too). I've had a two-week long break though because Danny is at cello camp, but he comes back tomorrow, so we'll start working alot again. Big smile

Wow, you're a hard-working band! I like that! Like I said, I will surely check that one out!

And yes, Zappa was indeed a musical genius, would have loved to see him live!Unhappy

Thanks! Sounds good. I'm sure you'll know when it's out; I'll make it apparent. LOL

I always work really hard on all my compositions to make sure they're as perfect as they need to be (I'm a perfectionist), and with me being off for summer now it gives me much more free time which is great. I actually have been working on compositions ever since 2006, but I'm caught up with all the material now.

We plan on releasing one album per year, but frankly it'll just be however long each album takes to be completed.

I would have loved to see Zappa too... it would have been absolutely fantastic. If I could hypothetically see ANYONE live, it would be him in a heartbeat. Smile

That's entirely understandable. I think there's always something to contribute, and it's really easy to burn out on that, especially when it seems like other people don't care at all.

I'm always glad to see you around here, whether it's just as a member, a collab, or whatever position/path you choose to take. I think working with more than one site can be a good thing... back when I was younger, I worked as a collaborator and administrator for tons of different video game sites (that was what I was into before music, really, though I was never completely hardcore---I'm much more casual now), and it's given me good experiences. I think I'm done with that now though, and I'm fine with just going to PA. I may someday change my mind, however.

Just be sure not to be too rash and know that there are people here who really enjoy your presence around (me being one of them), and I hope everything goes well with you just in case I don't see you as often for any period of time. Smile

maudlin of the Well was good. I was a bit underwhelmed at points, but overall I'd say it's a pretty solid release.

It's looking to be 4 stars. I can't imagine giving it anything else.

Have fun!
It started really well, I looked up the time Mastodon was about to start, arrived at the venue, bought myself a Crack the Skye t-shirt and got in just in time to find out that Mastodon had already played and Lamb of God is climbing on stage. What a great show Sleepy

Well Metallica was great as usual, and perhaps tomorrow I'll get to the venue early enough to see Mastodon if they're playing first again. But I presume that they're switching their slots so that I'll be forced to yawn through another Lamb of God set.

^My friend was there! Apparantly Mastodon had problems with the sound, but other than that was really good.

Thanks, AlexHug! Don't worry, I know who my friends are, and treasure them much more than I usually show. It's just that I need to do something else in life, feel productive in a way... I don't think being a full-time housewife is the way to go for me, even if the endless supply of free time is nice. I just wish those in charge of this site listened to us for once, instead of dismissing our issues outright. But then, I think I am preaching to the choir hereWink...

Lamb of God had really crappy sound as well, I have no idea what was going on in their songs except drumming and screaming.

Try their previous albums.  Seriously.

They're better than Opeth. Wink

Are not.AngryLOL

But seriously, have you seen the extremely high rating Part the Second has gotten so far? Amazing. While it's quite good, it's nothing compared to their earlier work.

It's because it's not a metal album.  Therefore it's more accessible and the likes of Rico and Robert like it more and thus give it a higher rating.

If they heard their earlier material (and true motW material), they'd hate it.  Whilst us guys and girls who like our metal (and can enjoy death metal as well) will rate those albums higher than Part the Second.

I liked Part the Second but it's about a 3, maybe a 4 (if I class it as a stand-alone album not related to their classic sound).

I prefer Opeth in terms of song and hook-writing.  You can remember Opeth tunes.

But motW are more avant-garde and diverse in sound, so I can get more enjoyment from them.

Solid 4 from me.

I enjoy The Bedlam in Goliath more everytime I hear it. Although I still think it's a 3 at the most. <_<

Need some new music....

That's good. Sounds like a plan to me. Hopefully you'll get to see them tomorrow.

No problem.

I understand that. I always have a bug in me to be productive, but I think composing solves that in me anymore---or if that isn't flowing for me, I'll usually challenge a video game or find some other way to express myself because my mind is always active. So I know what you mean there.

I don't think I could stay at home all the time (well, other than during summer breaks for now LOL); and I think that a job would definitely help out in that department for you. I'm hoping that all goes well there, but I'm pretty sure it should and will.

I shall.

It's definitely a solid album, not worthy of 5 stars at all. I'll have to hear it more; some parts weren't as good as others but I'd feel I would be giving it an injustice if I gave it a 3. We'll have to see how my opinion of it solidifies later on and once I see how their other stuff sounds.

Keep going at it.

There's really alot there. It even took me quite a while to fully "get", but I've extremely enjoyed it ever since the 4th listen or so. Smile
