I excluded any of the big guys who have released an album this millennium, hence, Yes, KC, the Who, etc.
By the way the Who's new album is ![]() I'll just say that I would perhaps rather see a new Genesis album with PG and SH then a PF album, just because what I know about PF's history, them being my favorite band. I would like to very much see a new Waters album, though. I didn't like Gilmour's that much. Emerson Lake Palmer I like a lot but I haven't heard In the Hot Seat, which has a bad rep. |

Magma... which of course not at all fossilised, but alive and kicking, even after 40 years since their formation!

The Decermberists.
Joking, joking! I personally wouldn't care about an album from any of these bands. I honestly do not have any hope that if Peter Gabriel got back with his old bandmates, the magic of the 70s (or any magic at all) would happen. It would be a pop record, plain and simple. A good one, maybe, but pop nonetheless. ELP? They tend to just get worse. I would love to hear a new Gentle Giant album. That could prove interesting (or a Wreck, no pun intended). |

^ Oh yeah, that too. It seems that the GG semi-reunion was excellent!

I would have said that, but the original post said they can't have released anything this decade or millennium or whatever. That being the case, I agree with Gentle Giant. |

...And it isn't over. Kerry Minnear is actually writing some new stuff for the band. We may not get a new GG album, but Three Friends' debut might just be coming some time in the future... ![]() |

The obvious answer of Genesis classic lineup, in the hope that Hackett, especially, would continue the fine progressive work he has been doing in a band setup.

The classic Genesis would be nice. Gabriel and Hackett would make it something a bit non - commercial, I think.
Some guest playing of Ant Phillips would be nice as well.

I voted for Alan Parsons Project. I think the possibility of turning out another good one is still there. Of course, at this date, any output from any of these bands will be a bit of a risk - we don't know what it would really sound like. ELP seems to have run their course, and I don't see how a Gilmour/Waters reunion would lead to anything really interesting. Although we've had Pink Floyd albums without Wright, a new one wouldn't be the same. Like Epignosis, I don't think a Genesis reunion would amount to much, but for a different reason: there is such a gap in the output of all the members since those old glory days, that I don't think there is much common ground left. Would that I would be wrong on these, and all got their acts together and produced truly classic albums.

I've pretty much moved on from fossil bands. I'm kind of skeptical that any of them have anything new to say progwise that would ever surpass what they did in the past. More than enough good stuff by new artists happening these days.

Yeah.... I think that Magma continues to do wonderful stuff, but it is derivative of the music they used to make. Nothing really new to say, it seems. Still, and I know Magma is excluded, I think the next Magma studio album will be lovely as I really like what they're doing. "Felicite Thosz" is one of my faves even if not that original. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maAFEQWeVFA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTRlgUjsZh0&feature=related |

I expect that a new GG album would be better than their final three studio albums. It could be a chance for the group to redeem themselves. ;)
