It's decent. Definitely not one of my favorites, but a good album nonetheless. Solid 3 or 4 stars for me (leaning towards 4), probably.

I think that it is because TMV are a heavy progressive rock band.  The first article that I read about them said that they would appeal to fans of Rush, which of course perked up my ears and made me give them a try.  I have all of their CDs, but I don't listen to them that often.

Hmmm... really? I think that the Mars Volta are weirder than Rush most of the time, so I'd be careful about who I recommend them to.

Both have vocalists with high pitched unusual voices that take time to grow on the listener?

Well, maybe, haha. I loved Geddy Lee's voice from the start though, and same with Cedric.

I'd say the vocals, PekkaWink....

The next thread title will now be Scott doesn't care for Cedric's voice.

I'm not smart enough to figure out how to post the direct YouTube video here like Mike and others do, but here is a link to Autumn Coma playing live last summer.  It is pretty good instrumental stuff.

Wait, as a TMV fan, am I supposed to like Rush? Confused Wink

I wonder what I should listen to, next. This week has been a classic era marathon for me. I am only allowing myself to listen to albums from 1969-1979, as a means of expanding my musical horizons. So far it's been VDGG, Camel, Rush, and Hammill's early solo career.

Really?  There's two tracks with some reggae...but that's all.
?  I just looked up the song Carnival from Wyclef Jean on YouTube and it was quite Reggae.  I assumed you were referring to that song.  Were you referring to an album?

If I asked you to listen to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway because it is a masterpiece and you looked up the title track, would you call me foolish?  Wink

Since you asked, yes, probably.  I just assumed you were providing me with the title of a song that would reference this guys progressive sound.  That is generally what I would do.

Well, the album is a concept album.  It features many different styles, and it is a lot of fun.  I hated rap until I heard this album, and now it makes me appreciate other artists (I like Outkast, for instance)

Interesting.  Well, I generally like concept albums.  Not sure if I would like this one or not.  I'll keep my eyes open for it.  Maybe if I find it used somewhere I will pick it up.

I live in the land of Eminem and Kid Rock, who are music Gods around here, but I am quite happy not being familiar with them.  I know I have heard snippets of some of their songs but that is about it.  Not sure if they are considered Rap or Hip-Hop or Trip-Hop or Limp Bizkit Hop.

Yeah, I stole my copy (okay, so a roommate left it behind), but I had heard it before.

Anyway, if you see it for a good price get it.  If you don't like that, there's probably every reason for you to write off rap altogether.  By the way, Wyclef is a good guitarist also.

I've got nothing to say about Wyclef Jean, I just happen to like huge quote pyramids. Tongue

Do you like huge quote pyramids more than you like Winona Ryder?

There are few things I like more than Winona Ryder, and huge quote pyramids is not one of them. In fact I can't think of any right now.

Anyhow, I have returned from the Pub Quiz and there was a question about Genesis (and Gabriel era too)!
