Suspicious white stuff has been known to get people in trouble.

Do you like the Mars Volta, Scott? I'm not sure I know your opinion of them or not.

Perhaps it's a weird side effect of the shampoo I'm using. We'll see how it develops.

Oh, you don't want to see it develop. Trust me, I know these things.

The Mars Volta frustrate me because as a Rush fan I am supposed to like them.  Some of their stuff is pretty good, but like with Opeth, I find the vocals to be pretty dreadful and they make it difficult for me to enjoy them.

Check out these couple of songs from a local Michigan band called Autumn Coma.  http://www.reverbnation.com/autumncoma  These were pretty sweet.  I will need to find out more about them to see if they can be added to PA.

Oh, okay.  That's entirely understandable.

Where did you hear the Rush-TMV connection? Confused

I suppose I could see why people would be fans of both bands, but they're not stylistically similar enough to be too connected, I think.

Will do. Thumbs Up

That's a cool band name, at least.

Is there a similarity between The Mars Volta and Rush?  I must have completely missed it.

I think that it is because TMV are a heavy progressive rock band.  The first article that I read about them said that they would appeal to fans of Rush, which of course perked up my ears and made me give them a try.  I have all of their CDs, but I don't listen to them that often.

Seriously, check out that Autumn Coma link above.  These guys are sweet.  Unfortunately, the site also says that they have broken up.

Other than both of them being sorta heavy, rooted in rock, and prog.... not sure. LOL

Hmmm... really? I think that the Mars Volta are weirder than Rush most of the time, so I'd be careful about who I recommend them to.

I used to think that too until I finally got into Opeth's stuff.

Both have vocalists with high pitched unusual voices that take time to grow on the listener?
