So what was the set list?  What about that "cover song" somebody else mentioned?  I won't get to see them, so spill the beans! Tongue

Wow, four new pages in one hourWink! Hopefully you'll manage to see my response... Well, it seems that the set list (with the exception of The Hazards of Love played in its entirety) was different for every date. After THoL, they played a track from one of Colin Meloy's solo albums. "Red Right Ankle", "The Bachelor and the Bride", "A Cautionary Tale" (with a very amusing sketch in the middle), "O Valencia!", "The Engine Driver", and a surprise cover song - Heart's "Crazy on You", with stunning vocal performances from both Shara Worden and Becky Stark. Then they left the stage, and came back for a final song - a rousing rendition of "Sons and Daughters". BTW; the cover Bob was referring to was "Echoes".

Nice stuff, can't wait for tomorrow. I have a live recording of them doing Echoes, much better than Pink Floyd.Tongue

Really now?

I'm not really big on Pink Floyd, but I'd be curious to hear that.

The reason I ask is because Paper Sun is very much Beatles-esque.

Oh. I wouldn't know.

I like a couple of their albums, another one is alright. Don't really play them often though.

Sweet. Thanks!

I think I'll check that out. Should be interesting to hear.

That Pink Floyd were crap and talentless.  David Gilmour couldn't play himself out of a paper bag.  Echoes is just senseless twaddle that goes on for ages.  I hate it.

Dark Side of the Moon was just pretentious crap and I have no idea what it is about.  Please!

I have my doubts that Dark Side is actually about anything. Animals through TFC are the only real concept albums.

Who am I to disagree? Tongue

The only thing of theirs I really can hear anymore without being bored to death is Animals. I overdosed, and I never did like them a whole lot to begin with. They're better than 98% of stuff though, and I still have all of their albums.

Have you only heard their stuff pre-1966? I mean that would be pure pop but it's still done well. After that, you can't call it pure pop, there was a lot going on. In fact, in my opinion we can basically get rid of the proto-prog section and just have the Beatles there because they popularized progression in music and really got the ball rolling.

Damn it, I love Echoes actually.  One day I'll get round to buying some PF on CD.

Yet you're not disagreeing because I completely lied in that post.

I like Pink Floyd, especially early PF.  Not so much later stuff though.  Although Division Bell has its moments.

I've heard some pre-1966 and some after-1966. The stuff afterwards tends to be more tolerable, but I still haven't cared for anything I've heard.

Strawberry Fields is a really good tune.  The studio work done on that was complicated too.  Lots of great early techiniques.

Plus without The Beatles, you wouldn't have Zappa or most post-Beatles music. Wink

Animals is masterliness.

Echoes is masterliness.

Saucerful of Secrets is masterliness.

Pink Floyd were my favourites before VdGG kicked in (since '07).
