Topic: Dream Theater vs. The Flower Kings Posted: May 20 2009 at 20:10
Ok, so Dream Theater runs into The Flower Kings (including all of their ex members) in a back alley, Labrie pulls out a set of brass knuckles, Stolt smashes the body of his guitar against the wall and waves the neck around like a bat, John Myung pulls out a set of nunchaks.
Who Wins?
Here's how I see it:
Tomas Bodin quickly goes down to the gang of Moore, Sherinan and Rudess, the keyboardists three.
Despite Mike Portney being the best drummer of the bunch, he quickly bites it thanks to the phlanx of drummers from The Flower Kings. He would hold his own at first, flinging sticks at Salazar, Czorez and the new guy but Hasse Brunison would sneak up behind him with the chain and Mr. Portney is off to the bench.
Labrie would put up a good struggle against the flying fists of Froeberg but once Gildenlow finally dispatches Charlie Dominichi, he pairs up with Hasse to send poor James to the bench.
Reingold and Stolt (Michael) would try to out flank Myung, but Myung would do a spin-o-rama that would make Denis Savard proud and take out Michael with his chucks and Jonas with his hair.
This leaves the penultimate match up between Ronnie Stolt and John Petrucci, sadly it would be anti-climactic as Ronnie would take a tenative swing at Petriccu who would promptly grab the neck of the guitar and eat it, anrgilly. Ronnie would quickly retreat and start working on his next solo project with the still half-conscious Tomas Bodin.
Winner - Dream Theater
(and who said there were too many FK / DT polls)

L.O.L. John Petrucci would flip a switch on the ground (that just happens to be there) and Michael Angelo Batio flies down and chops off The Flower Kings' heads with his spinning quad neck guitar of death. The end.

The Dream Theater guys are just so much meaner.

Pretty much the way OP described it with one omission. Petrucci would simply start soloing on "kill mode" and everyone would die except for him, both TFK and DT members.

Dudes, the Dream Theater guys probably can't get past the huge, incredible wall of music created by the Flower Kings epic tracks. Dream Theater and their mainstream music, (I hate to say that word and I hate myself for liking some of it,) will never stand a chance.

From what this thread is turning into, I guess anything is more intimidating than the title 'The Flower Kings', but as far as music goes, I can't choose. They are both incredible bands in completely different ways.

In a street fight, dream theater hands down (I mean...have you seen petrucci lately???). In just about every musical aspect : flower kings, no second thoughts!
